Morning all...and yes, it’s early, well it was when I set off this morning. I haven’t run since Friday & I was starting to get pestered.....it was niggling me. I have made it to W5 & this mornings run was to be run 2, so 5k. 4:36am was the time when I looked at my watch...I can’t get up at this time, it’s far too early, so I rolled over & laid for 10 minutes planning my route...I’ve got running on the brain, honestly! How times change?!! One minute I’m waking up with babies crying, feeding them & shushing then back to sleep, or climbing in & out of their cots/beds (anything to get some sleep!!!) next minute the running gods are waking me up & I’m heading out of the door at daft o’clock!!!! So, headphones in & off I went...at 5:20am!!! It was cooler...not cool, cool-er...I had my wet buff wrapped around my wrist & off I went...the run was uneventful but, dare I say it?? Easy??!! Yes...easy, I took it nice & steady & when I was chatting to MikeJones68 the other day he said he didn’t like running back the way he came so I ran a circuit, which still included my run along the canal...I really, really enjoyed it. I’ve been worrying about whether or not to carry on & keep on pushing towards the 10k goal but this morning, I think with a bit of steely determination I could’ve kept on running..my next run is another 8k & if I go at daft o’clock again I’m sure I will manage it...there was some reserves in the tank this morning...between packing the car up, sorting out suncream, inflatables, sandals, sandwich toasters, shopping, dog, kids, sports days, teachers presents & Daddycav I’ve got a busy coupla days...I’ve got a few books to take on holiday with me, not that I get much chance to read, but it won’t be the kids that are stopping me reading, it’ll be you lot on here, my running family & your runderful tales...who needs books????? Fingers crossed for my 8k, I need you all to spur me along to success!!
Have a lovely Tuesday & if you’re running today...have a good one 🏃🏼♀️🏃♂️👏🏻 xxx
Wow.. life sounds so busy for you, well done for getting up at crack of dawn o'clock
Our little runner in training woke up at 12:30 and had a total meltdown, proper damian style and then to top that off one of the cats limped in with a bad leg, so may have to visit the vet with it today if I can find it(as it has now buggered off). Life eh! Enjoy the holiday
It did...I thought I enjoyed running up & down the canal because of the scenery but actually, I liked my route today, it was that early even the canal was asleep!!! And I knew I was nearly there when I was near home 😊
Well done Mummycav (can I call you Bev now??), I'm so glad your run was a good one. Sounds like the bigger issues were the ungodly hour and the heat! Who would have thought that a 5k run would now be "meh"? You are doing brilliantly! It feels great to have a goal again, doesn't it?
Oooh it's all getting rather exciting now Shall I chill the champagne?
Hooray, Mummycav ! You are a wet buff convert too! I won't go for a run without it now. I was up and at 'em at 6:15am myself, beautiful time of the day, though still too hot.
I had to tackle all of the longer runs of the B210K programme with steely determination – and trust me, that's all you need, you are a great runner. Try not to overthink it – you will finish the programme, no problem. Just take it one run at a time. You are so close now, too! SO close!
The heat is making it hard; I do feel for you. But early is the only way right now. At the weekends, when I get out early, I always take a granny nap in the afternoon.
You are doing so amazingly well, Bev, keep the faith in yourself, and keep at it with that steely determination. I am so so proud of you.
Thankyou Sadie-runs , I am def getting up at daft o’clock on run days, while we’re away I will be too busy in the swimming pool to fit a run in!! I feel close to the end but yet so far!!! If the 4 & 5 k runs are as perfect as this mornings, I will be fine, I want to look as good as you with my graduate badge 😉 xx
Swimming is great cross training for runners, so don’t worry! As for perfect runs, just remember them if you have a not so perfect run - that’s just the way it goes! And, you got to stick at it, even if you have a bad ‘un! Keep pushing for the perfect one. 😁👏👏👏 xxx
I really wish I was a morning person - well done. I’m definitely an end of the day runner and it does give me something to look forward too but equally the gremlins have longer to play games with you. I too am wondering whether I will get to 10k- done the 8k once which was good but other time I struggle on the shorter runs- I guess that is just running for you. Enjoy your holiday
Ooh that's the way Bev, the cooler weather must have helped, but I'm glad the change of route helped too. Take it easy now with all that you have going on xx
