Not entirely running related, but while I was in France in summer overindulging on delicious food and wine a post popped up on Facebook inviting Lincoln ladies over 50 to take part in a 28 day Body Transformation Challenge. I signed up and today was my final weigh in. The programme was quite intense and involved a high protein, 1200 calorie nutrition plan and 3 x 30 min high intensity workouts a week (1 upper body, 1 lower body, 1 total body conditioning). Result - 12.32lbs lost, body fat % down from 35.5 to 30.1 and 9.25 total inch loss. Iβve printed off the nutrition plans and recipe book and found a 90 day workout plan on the internet - target another 11lbs by Xmas to my ultimate goal. Feeling very motivated and I am such a happy bunny π°
Feeling proud of myself!: Not entirely running... - Bridge to 10K
Feeling proud of myself!
Happy that you are happy Sandie. GSR PB is a cert! πππ
Oooh sounds interesting and a challenge πͺπͺπͺπ
It really was! The guy who runs it is a super heavyweight bodybuilding champion, so the focus was very much on losing body fat and building/toning muscle (which is one of the reasons why Iβm not continuing long term - running was dismissed as not being relevant!) There was an online induction programme with 30 units to work through, everything had to be recorded and I had to check in every day on the private Facebook group with photos of each meal, a daily questionnaire and a Weekly Temple and face to face call π It certainly delivered results!
Well done Sandie, what a great plan on top of all your long distance running. I wonβt recognise you at the weekend.
My best weight was last November when I was running 10ks for the first time. I think my body has got used to me running now so itβs not burning so much fat. Or maybe Iβve increased naughty things because I think I can get away with it ππ
I have put on 2/3 kilos. Kidding myself that it is heavy muscle replacing fat π
Well done Sandie. You must be pleased as punch.
Fantastic Sandie ππ» I remember you mentioning you had signed up to this at Boston parkrun. What a result! Iβm so full of admiration for your dedication to what sounded a tough plan. π xx
Ah yes, Iβve seen that come up on my Facebook feed (not for Lincoln ladies though obs!). That is amazing though, youβve done so well there Sandie! What with that and all the running youβve been doing, the GSR will be no problem for you ππππππ
Wow, that's absolutely brilliant, well done. 1200 calories though - that's really tough! While I've been on the IC I've worked really hard to lose a bit of weight (including the extra I gained during my HMs and the first 4 sulky weeks of injury). I used Myfitnesspal and it allowed me around 1200 calories when I first set it up, but I found that too hard so changed the settings to lose weight more slowly and was then allowed about 1450 calories I think. But I then also added to that any calories burned cycling etc. Even so, I went over some days! Happy to say I lost over a stone in three months and am now as low as I've been for about 8 years. The massive challenge is trying to maintain it now (and for that Myfitnesspal is allowing me 1900 calories a day). 1200 though? Just 1200? Crikey! I'm super impressed
I am also on MFP, Unsuccesfully though. MFP allows me 1200+ anything I burn in cardio.
I have gone over quite a few times but I have list very little.
My target now is losing those final 11lbs by Xmas without the daily reporting. I canβt keep up 1200 cals a day long term and it was designed to be a strict quick start, so am going to 1500 to try to lose 1lb a week going forward and adjust as required. I canβt give up alcohol for good π Then make sure I keep up the running and weights workouts, plus start my cycling challenge π
You're wonderfully focussed! 1500 will be a bit easier. Can you increase that by the calories you've burned? MFP let me increase based on any exercise other than walking or yoga! That way I could still have my alcohol. I was aiming for 0.5kg a week when it allowed me 1500 plus exercise earnings π
You should absolutely be proud of those results Sandie! Youβre turning into a lean mean running machine! πͺ πββοΈ
Congratulations, you must be so pleased π
Wow, well done Sandie1961 that's amazing!! Being in France most Summers for 6 weeks at a time (we didn't go this year due to Daddycavs workload and going to Jamaica in April) I find the wine and cheese irresistible too...but I was on Ju-Ju's 10k plan while I was there last year so I was running a lot...and also splashing about in the pool and doing a bit of wild swimming so I kept the weight off that way...the plan that you've been on sounds like a great idea...you'll be disappearing between the floorboards come Christmas!!!
Haha, I will never be stick like, Iβm just not built that way! We are now spending 3-4 months in France each year, so you can imagine what itβs like, but I just have to tell myself we are now part time residents, not on holiday! Works some of the time π I made big efforts to keep running and walking this year, including my hill repeats that I canβt do at home in the UK and jog, run, sprint, but some days it was just too blooming hot to do anything other than retreat to the shade with a good book and a cold beer!
Ooo. Lucky you, I absolutely love France...the dordogne is my favourite place. I know what you mean, a good book, a cold beer and a cheese board Haha x
Iβm going to make you even more jealous then because our place is in the Dordogne at Monbazillac just outside Bergerac π
There are weight loss and healthy eating forums on here if you are interested.
You are doing amazingly! ππ
Your brilliant post and Dexy5βs response triggered a number of thoughts yesterday! I realised that my own weight watching had slipped and hydration too! So as well as celebrating your fantastic achievement, you have given me a much needed prod!! I started Molly (our OES) on C25k yesterday too, on her beach walk. She does hurtle around after a ball, but she settled into a steady trot to keep up with me. So long as she doesnβt take over pace making! Seemed to work quite well. The gift which keeps on giving π....not giving up the chocolate brownie chomping though; some things are non negotiable!!
Quite right! You canβt give up all your pleasures π§ Sure your running buddy doesnβt need to watch her weight, but if she keeps you on track great π (sorry canβt find an OES!) I must admit, one of the hardest parts for me was drinking water. How crazy is that?
Wow! Good for you. That is some great loss!
Well done Sandie, that's brilliant.
Reducing your BMI and getting fit can only mean good things for you ππ
Some amazing stats there Sandie! Feeling proud of yourself? Well, so you should!
