I completed c25k in May 2018 for the second time. I completed it last year but then unfortunately strained a calf 1k into a run soon after & was out of action for a few months whilst the physio tried to put me back together........ I stopped & started over the winter moths, then began again at the beginning in April this year. I'm determined to keep it going now & have been doing consolidation runs - 3-6k after missing a couple of weeks with an infection. My challenge this year was to do a 5k event. I now think I might up that challenge to 10K event before the end of the year.
So advice please. My max distance so far is 6k this weekend. So how best to move on to 10K safety? The programmes seem to suggest intervals with walking like c25k which I know works - but I now find it harder to stop and start. So should I just keep running and add an extra few minutes a week? I run three times a week/ every other day.
Also has anyone done the Blenheim Palace 10K? There is one in October but I have read about hills...... how steep?...... There don't seem to be many 10K runs local to me so looking for somewhere nice for my first challenge!! Is there a data base of charity runs out there somewhere??
Thanks all. Happy running ๐

I canโt advise you on databases of runs, but as far as getting to 10k, a lot of us are following ju-ju- โs 8 week plan. If you check the pinned posts then this one gives you the outline of the latest plan rollout, and there are other posts for each week. You can post under the current week whenever you start. Iโm just on week 2 now. Good luck. ๐โค๏ธ
I have to recommend @ju-ju- plan. It really works. You can follow it at any stage but I liked doing it with a group of people on more or less the same week.
Hello, as others have said you are so welcome to join my 10k plan. The next one starts the 10th of August, but there are alot of different plans and apps out there so Id say do some research for one that fits you
Thank you - Iโll take a look at your plan. I probably need all the help I can get!! ๐
I'm doing a 10k race at Blenheim on 30th September. i haven't been in the palace grounds for years, so don't remember how steep it is. Reading people's comments about previous years, they say it's undulating and the slopes don't last long, but that you can't sprint to the finish as it's up a long, slow incline. The organisers say it's a tough course, but i don't know what they mean by that. i live in Chipping Norton, so I've had to get used to hills, but I don't know if Blenheim is easier or harder than running round here. There's nothing to stop you walking part of it if you want - lots do.
