Has Anyone Done the Goodwood Motor Circuit 10k?

Hi

I was thinking of signing up for this on 8 December as hopefully I will be at 10k by then.

It’s an hour away but looks interesting and best of all FLAT!

Has anyone else done it?

Only in my Mazda MX5 Rainbow!

I can only think it must be fun though; such a great location and a coos cafe on site. Are you doing it?

🤣🤣. I was planning to when I wrote the post but when doing my 8k at the weekend my leg was incredibly painful and I had to stop. Despite icing it’s still really painful. I have decided to take two weeks rest and get myself fully fit before starting again. I think it’s it IT band? Anyway lots of strength exercises for me

I was fine doing C25K but since then it seems to have been one thing after another.

Sadly I think for that reason I won’t be ready but we shall see. However I think they do it several times as year and as it’s flat I will definitely plan that as my official 10k. Sounds fun.

The IT band can be a problem if increasing distance too fast. Did you do a good consolidation of 5k running before moving on to juju’s plan. ? I have had ITB niggles when increasing to 10 miles and went to the physio. Luckily mine hadn’t got to the swollen state and he’s given me exercises to strengthen my glutes . You can find some on runners world website. You are right not to attempt running if your knee is still inflamed or painful

He said that my niggles were warnings and not to run through the knee pain. Do seek medical advice if the swelling doesn’t go down. Good luck. Hopefully you can try the plan again and maybe take 500m increases instead of 1k or repeat weeks to allow your body to build up.

Thanks for the advice and info. I’m assuming it’s ITB but at first I thought it was my hip. The pain is in the outer thigh round to my pert little bottom (not !!!🤣🤣🤣).

Dexy5 I think you have hit the nail on the head. I thought I had been doing everything right and not rushing ahead but I did start the magic plan a couple of weeks after C25K so maybe I should have left it a couple of months?

Maybe when I start back I will do 5K three times a week for a couple of months first?

Yes, you can always try a parkrun if you haven’t yet . That can add a bit more interest. I’m a parkrun addict.

Yes I’ve done a couple and it’s on grass so whilst I do find it harder it’s probably better for me.
