After a long and quite frankly miserable summer (only in the running front) the cooler weather is starting to creep back in and I for one am loving it.
I did some different running over the summer but I really struggled in the heat and it gets humid where I live to the point i was almost fed up and only going out sporadically.
But now I'm back and really feeling up for it again and have knocked out a couple of solid 5k runs this week.

You need to move to Ireland. We had 3 days of summer this year. It was chilly 🥶 in July. When we get a heat wave it’s usually due to the population of England and Wales waving over at us. 😀 Scotland and Northern Ireland share our general climate.
I count the number of days that I spend outside in my garden per month suntanning when the temperature is over 18C/64F where I live in Central Scotland.
This summer, June, July and August (2019) was down on 20 18 with about 10 days of wall to wall sunshine, there were a couple of days when the temperature got +80F/27C, I never run when the temperature goes above 20C.
Very lucky regarding thunderstorms, seemed to miss them except on the Saturday afternoon in July that I ran my first parkrun, even that one did not last long and there was not much rain at all, however, several areas not all that far from where I live did get heavy thunderstorms and severe flooding, just the nature of thunderstorms which are hit and miss.
It rained everyday in August here. It was a poor summer. Windy, rain and cold for the most part. Maybe 1 or 2 days where it was a little too warm to run.
Thank you for your weather report Damien, at this very moment on Saturday morning I am getting ready to go for my 6th parkrun, however, this morning I'll be at one which I have not been to before, so that means I will have to be at the first-timers briefing. Good luck to you and everyone else who is running at a parkrun this morning.
Just back from this morning's parkrun and waiting for my official result, it wasn't at my usual parkrun and is a slightly flatter course, I looked at my ordinary wrist watch at the start and at the end, I THINK that I will have PB of ABOUT 31? something, I will tell you exactly what my official time us as soon as I get it.
That’s so good to hear! Many have been dreading the return of shorter days and long nights, but hearing this makes me think of it differently. It was challenging running in the heat, have to admit that and wasn’t comfortable at all, not sure why I put myself through it! I guess autumn/winter will be a more manageable season for running, you know what you are getting and it will keep those SAD symptoms at bay too.
