My alarm went off at 5 a.m. this morning, but I turned it off and went back to sleep π΄ Got up at 7 ish, made tea and had a biscuit, deciding not to run. I didnβt feel like it. I was tired. The Gremlins had won! π or had they? I took my tea back upstairs and somehow found myself putting on my running clothes and doing a few leg swings - not quite sure how that happened! Running shoes on and out the door before I could argue with myself πββοΈπ
It was very overcast with a slight drizzle, but it was wonderfully cool. Iβve struggled so much running in the heat these last few weeks, so it was good to feel that cool air on my skin as I did my warm up walk. The drizzle was refreshing!
I start to run - really easy for the first km and steady for the second. My heart rate shoots up, but I ignore it and settle into the run trying to find a comfortable pace. Iβm later out this morning, so there are a lot of people about and there is traffic, too, so Iβm not able to run in the road as I prefer to do. The road dips down towards the end of the second km, but right at the end there is a short but fairly steep incline which always catches me. I have to stop to cross the road (which Iβm grateful for) but once Iβm across I try to pick up my pace a little to make up for it!
The third km is uneventful but it does slope gently upwards towards the end. I reach the junction and decide on a 4K run today, so start to pick up the pace to try and finish strong. Itβs an effort! This 4K route does finish on a downhill section, but not as much as the 5K route. I take advantage of it anyway and am pleased with my last km split.
Run over and I congratulate myself on another run - another victory! I enjoyed it more because it was cooler.

I love it when your heads saying "no I'm not going" but your body's putting your kit on π€£ it's a weird feeling but one that gets me out the door quite regularly! ππ»
Well done for beating those gremlins! I agree, itβs much more pleasant to run when itβs cooler too. Itβs amazing how busy the streets get so quickly! All the best πππ.
Haha, the dunked biscuit was great, but Iβve always preferred to run fasted for the shorter runs, so it was odd that I still managed to get out of the door - and no stitch on the run. π Negative splits definitely a big plus π
So, by the time I left for work this morning you had done tea and biscuits, battled with Gremlins, beaten the Gremlins AND completed a run with your trade mark negative splits-what a start to the day!
Well done for manoeuvring yourself out that door πππ»ββοΈπExcellent final Km , lovely to put your foot down and accelerate like that πͺπ
Every run feels good just for having done it I find and the coffee just as good regardless of pace or distance π
