I bottled it yesterday when I heard the rain on the roof, and stayed in bed π€ rather than sloshing round a Parkrun. This morning was bright and sunny so I went out with the local runners. I tried to keep up with the front runners. Oops! That wore me out π so I slowed and kept going.
Stopped once running up βthe beastβ (its a hill) then ran really slowly til Iβd got my breath back. Felt like doing the shorter route but needed to do the longer one to stay on track with my goal of 700km this year. Ended up running with another lady and having a nice chat. Did the longer route with her but it was only just over 6km, so did a bit more, winding round the streets on the way home. 8.5km done. That makes 305 this year so far and 45km to do before the end of June to be on target. I was hoping to get ahead during the summer to allow for not running in icy conditions in the winter. Will have to try harder!

Good run BTP...but not sure about the credentials of a Pirate who dodges a spot of rain! I got soaked twice last week..quite refreshing π¬. In truth you made a good call and took on a greater running challenge...earned a nice piece of cakeπ°π°
A sub 5 min km to start π³! Yowsers! Baddie the pirate BEAST! Iβm glad the weather was better today giving you a nicer run. We were so windy yesterday and cold but have woken up to clear sunny skies and the birds chirping so Iβll be getting out for my run today as well after 2 days stuck in the boat with ugly weather. Whoohoo! Coffee going in, brekkie next, then off I go as well.
It slowed me down overall, I was so tired after the first km. I'll go back to slow and steady for the begining and see if I can give it some welly for a fast finish in the future π
Maybe but you were trying to keep up with the front runners, so it is highly possible that it is correct. Regardless, you ran a fast first km. You've got some speed ready to be let out when the will strikes.
I think you did the right thing Baddie, yesterday was just bleurghh! A fair weather pirate is still a pirate π There was about half the number at our parkrun that there usually is. Thatβs a pretty impressive first k too, just think if you did that for the whole run π±
I do prefer warm and dry. Impossible to do that for anything more than a short while. I won't be doing it again either, it made the rest of the run difficult. Slow and steady...
Nice run Baddie. Youβll get those 45km for sure, and a little progression week on week will get you nicely ahead of schedule over the next couple of months.
Baddie, I'm struggling too at the moment π Energy levels are up and down, so I'll do a run and feel great, then can't drag myself out later in the week. So I reckon you've done brilliantly.
