So I thought I’d go for a quiet jog and see how it worked. But no. First the phone call I really had to answer, just at the end of the warm up. Then the traffic at every crossing. Then the verge mowers out in full force and the closed pathway. And the builders with the giant hole in the ground on my route. Ah well. 🤣🤣 Some days it’s just like that. But it did record a distance and a time and save them and report back to the Connect app in my phone. So now I just have to figure how to set up intervals and ...
It’s going to be fun! Hurray!

Nice. Lovely watch. I just hit start to record and run. I have not tried the intervals out yet. I’ve the 35. I love looking at Garmin Connect and Strava afterwards.
I think you only get the badge that relates to the particular forum don’t you? So Graduate on C25K, Graduate 10 on Bridge to 10k and 10 miles/HM/Mara on the marathon site?
Looks like my Garmin doesn't support sending it from my phone (I've got the 35) but I have done it on my watch. Just got to actually run it now! Well not now, but some time today 😬
Oooo lovely GS - hey, when you’ve worked out how to set up intervals, maybe you can let me know?! I’ve had my Garmin since Christmas and I’m still clueless! 🙄 🤦♀️😅
Yes. 👍 I went back & forth & then was swayed by easy to work with my iPhone. Plus I have found one tends to enjoy a bit more tech than one thought at first. 🤔
The 235 is an awesome runners watch. I bought mine second hand for £90 and sold it 6 months later for the same price. Spent quite a bit more than that on my latest Garmin...
Great watch, probably one of the best things I’ve ever bought.
I set up intervals on mine via the app on a pc. I found it to be a bit of a faff and when I went to analyse the run afterwards I didn’t like the way it had measured each interval, rather than each km. I use jog, run, sprint on my phone in my pocket if I’m doing intervals.
Thanks. I puzzled over it last night & am going to try the result this morning but have my doubts... mostly to do with whether I’ve set up what I meant or something else entirely! 🤔😳 Ongoing story, I guess. Thanks for the hints!
I see what you mean about the reportage. I was using 1 minute intervals and it’s totally tmi and no way to grasp it. Thanks to your warning, I had Runkeeper in the background on my phone so I can make some sense of it all. 😊 But the interval buzzing was really handy - and at this stage, I’m just pleased it did what I thought I had set up!
Love love love my 235. It does everything that I need so I'll be sticking with this model for a while. Go on YouTube to find out how to access the features and how to set it up. It's easy when you get the hang of it. Enjoy...
I just want to buy the same fitness watch. After a year of use, are you satisfied? What are the disadvantages of this watch? I want to give this fitness watch to my boyfriend. I think he will be happy because he is working out at the gym every day. By the way, what do you think if I give him a toy from the game Among Us nasmas.com/products/among-u... will it be an awesome gift? He once said that he would like to have such a plush toy and I think such a small gift would please him.
For running, it works just fine - broadly as I had hoped. Good stats & works well with my iPhone & Bluetooth earphones. For setting routines etc I find the front end interface clunky and use other apps, but I know other folks like it just fine.
I have had some odd problems with it, like it resetting itself to the day before! 😱 Frustrating at the time but just as I was ready to send it back, a prolonged turnoff and ignore approach finally worked. Guess this sort of thing is part & parcel of life with electronics.
I have had to adapt - like everyone - to different circumstance and now do much more cross training at home. Don’t like it much for this - various activities on the list but recording is limited to time, heart rate, etc and other data has to be entered by hand. I have a rowing machine & to count strokes requires an additional app & assorted other faffoligy.
Running Daughter got the simpler version and likes it fine. But she has another smart watch fir notifications, etc, so didn’t care about that. I use phone for music, as I need to carry it anyway. I think this one does work for swimming, if that’s relevant, but check as I don’t use it for that.
Horses for courses, I would say. You’re on the right track to trawl round experiences on here. Good luck with the search!
