Back in running shoes

I did my first run for 4 weeks yesterday. I managed 3K and felt I could have done more, which I guess is a good time to stop.

I have been benched (couched?) with a mystery illness during the last month, that put me in A&E. I’m still on antibiotics and definitely ‘not quite right’ yet, a bit lower energy but gradually feeling better.

The run went really well. I took it easy, choosing a simple route that was pretty flat and familiar. I don’t run anything you could consider fast at the best of times.

I will try to fit in another run later this week, maybe going up to 4K - that will be back to almost normal. Short term goal is to break the 5K barrier, so I can fully run parkruns. Next after that is 7K around our local lake - that would be amazing.

Sounds like you have a plan 😊.

Be sure to listen to what your body tells you though.

7k round a lake sounds heavenly.

I am very lucky to live near some amazing parks, that are both beautiful and great for running. My nearest has a few lakes, the biggest of which is about 7K to get around.

I have always considered it a big lake, and in a previous life (last year) I would have barely walked along one side of it.

To be considering running around it one day soon literally boggles my mind.

Good to hear from you again Charlie, that's some illness to wipe you out like that. Sounds like you have a recovery plan to work on, good luck and look after yourself 🍀🙂🙋‍♀️
