New Running Shoes - Fluke??

I bought some Under Armour running shoes and wore them for the first time this morning, connected them to MMR and started out for a 5k, I have never run 5k in under 30mins, the best I’ve done is 31.28 minutes and I think to myself there is no way I’m beating that any time soon. Well, when I started running I was getting coaching tips as I was running saying my cadence is too low for the pace I was running and to shorten my stride length and quicken my step. I’m sure you can guess now that when I finished I ran my first sub 30 5k!! 5.1k in 29.58 woohoo!!

I've seen them advertised on YouTube those shoes, they seem absolutely amazing! If I can fix my pronation (wearing shoes that support that currently) I would love to invest in some shoes like this!

They are amazing, I shopped around and found them on Amazon for £63 instead of £105!! Well worth it!!

Well done on your first sub-30 5k! If shoes suit you they can make a difference but I suspect the cadence training also played its part! Either way YOU did it! 💪🙂

I find it really weird as when I’ve tried to run faster I get out of breath quickly so only run faster the last 1k or .5k, really didn’t think I was going to beat it. Friday will be interesting, I’m running 10k with a pb of 1:06:12

I did a 'slow' run in the heat yesterday which turned out faster than I expected, I think for the same reason - I shortened my stride to take it easy and think I actually upped my cadence as a result! 🤷‍♀️

Good luck with your 10k on Friday! 🙂

Congratulations on getting sub 30! Only one way to know if it’s a fluke... but I’m sure it isn’t.
