I was staying over with my family in my Mum and Dads this weekend. The nearest parkrun was 30 mins away in the car so I got up early and made my way to the Mount Lucas parkrun which is in a wind farm. I picked a very fitting day for it as the wind was blowing 30 to 35 mph and the wind turbines were generating loads of electricity. The first 3K was very tough and into the strong wind. I struggled to keep my pace consistent. It was a small crowd and I finished in 12th position in a time of 28:07. I did my 46th parkrun today.

The last 2K were with a tail wind. I was so tired at that stage although I pushed home for a good last 1k. I was wrecked. There were just 36 runners. It was a lovely parkrun.
Excellent place and time for you Damien, 12th position and a sub 30 minute run, well done, I ran my second parkrun this morning, sub 35 minutes at 34.17, that's 1 second slower than 4 weeks ago, I put that down to the warm weather, no gale force winds where I am in Scotland, anyway, I am quite happy with my result as you are with you'rs, roll on next Saturday.
I was just happy to get around. It was never going to be a day for trying for a parkrun PB time. I’m on my countdown now to my milestone 50th parkrun. Indeed, roll on next Saturday.
I wish you all the best for your 50th parkrun Damien, talking about 50, there was a lady who had the number 50 on the back of her T shirt who I used as a pacemaker for the last two kilometers this morning, looking at the result, it was her 53rd parkrun, she finished 12 seconds in front of me. 😊 🏃
I think mine will be the following weekend, 7th of September. I missed last week, otherwise we would have been doing out 50th parkrun together. I’m really looking forward to it. Enjoy your next few Parkruns.
Thanks , I didn’t get scanned today as it would have meant me doing 50th at a tourist run, and I’ve got people joining me at Southsea on 31st to celebrate . We’re nearly parkrun 50 twins 😂😂
Ah thanks. I genuinely just love parkrun and everything it stands for. I love the inclusivity. I love that I can chat to a complete stranger at the start line and discuss our running journey. I spoke to a gentleman today who was 20 years older than me and just retired last year at 65. He started C25K last year and today was his 6th parkrun. He passed me out on the 4th kilometer. I was also passed out on the 3rd kilometer by a 10 year old girl. You’ve just got to love it.
