10K (I think ....) at last 😊

Hello everyone,

I may have got carried away earlier today by posting my report first on the 'graduation' page, enquiring from Roseabi if I could possibly have a 10K badge.

Well, after spending months consolidating after my C-5K graduation, I recently started increasing my distance towards 10K.

My 5K times seem to have got stuck in the mid-35 minutes - in fact, I felt I might have been getting slower if anything - may be due to the summer temperatures?

So, the longer runs, little by little along my local river towpath, sometimes evenings, sometimes mornings, have proved more stimulating than going round the laps of the park, so familiar from Saturday parkruns - where I marshal more often than run, in any case!

I have followed the advice on hete to mix up the longer runs and 5Ks (even 2.5K) and always left a day or more between each r

This morning, I pushed ahead to the furthest point along the river I had reached to date (paused for 5 minutes before turning back...hope that is allowed!) and headed back. Nearly 10K surely, I thought as I checked my Strava app somewhat clunkily as it is always showing miles - only discover I was short first by c 800 metres then still 200 metres ... and finally I stopped at 10.77K - appropriately just outside my GP surgery😂.

It was a wonderfully unexpected sense of pleasure and relief! The 'moving time' is nothing Olympian, as you might expect, 1 hour, 30 minutes, 36 seconds.

So now, I would like to try a 'real" 10K race/run in either September or October😊.

Would really appreciate your advice on how best to consolidate from now on - and to stay motivated😊.

All the best - and many thanks indeed to everyone!

Well done. That’s quite a run. I am consolidating 10k by repeating it once a week alongside shorter runs, but others here will probably have better suggestions.
