Ordinary people would wake up, look out the window, notice the leaden skies and lashing rain and think ...... nah. πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦

But I’m a runner.

I know I ran yesterday and I thought I’d better not ...... 😈

So naturally I got into my running kit, hastily fed my numerous creatures so as not to miss the rainy opportunity, dragged my dog out to the car and drove up to the Common.

I ran the most delightful 4k, got absolutely soaked, splooshed happily through puddles, and then the sun came out! Epic timing for once! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¦πŸ•

(Don’t tell me off for running on consecutive days pleeeeease - I won’t do it again!) πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Happy running lovely friends. ❀️

Hi CC. It sounds lovely. Rainy runs are among the very best. So if you’re mad, I am too.

It was sooooo welcome after the last few runs I’ve done. In fact I can’t remember one that hasn’t been hot and humid recently. Rainy running is so refreshing! πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦

Less fun in the winter, I expect!

cheekychipmunks profile image

Yes, but I’d still take rain over humidity any time of year. (Yep, bonkers!) πŸ™„πŸ˜…

No, I am totally with you on that one. Humidity is evil and to be avoided at all costs.

Too true. It’s hideous. πŸ‘Ž

I'm a runner but I'd think nah! You can run consecutive days once you've been running for a year and grown runners legs apparently. Just remember to have rest days too 😎

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toBaddieThePirate

You seem to get more than your fair share of rain though Baddie, so I understand your thinking. πŸ‘

I’ve been running for over a year now and I’m so slow I’m assuming I’ll be safe to run consecutive days every now and then. I won’t run until the weekend now. πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

I think after your epic 18k you have earned the right to run on consecutive days every now and again! And no sign of Jeff this morning - it's all goodπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ!!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toTartancat

Thanks TC, I was thinking the same really! Plus I’m so slow, it would be unlikely for me to get an injury over exerting myself (touch wood!) πŸ˜…

No, Jeff stayed away today! Good thing! πŸ‘πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¦

We’ll let you off as you’ve almost been running a year cheeky. It looks like we’ll have a rainy run too but far later.

Thanks Dexy! Yes I suppose the year starts from graduation doesn’t it? I’ve been counting it from W1R1. Oh well, my snail pace has its uses keeping me (so far) injury free. πŸ˜€πŸ€ž

Hope you are treated to a refreshing run today too. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ˜€

Slightly jealous..I have managed to miss all the showers this week so far. After torrential rain showed yesterday, I went to run club last night and the sun was splitting the trees. But I suppose my runners tan is coming along lol. Sounds like a lovely run in the Common.

I know CB, I feel bad complaining about the heat, knowing that winter will cause its own grumbles. But for now I’m going to relish every wet/cool run I can! This weekend looks particularly wet here, and very windy indeed! πŸ’¦πŸ’¨πŸ˜³

Good run for you in the β˜” rain today Cheeky, that thing about running on consecutive days really only applies to new runners on C25K who have not been running for 6 months or less, you are now a GRADUATE 10 and have been running for over a year so that rule no longer applies to you.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toAlMorr

Brilliant Al. I don’t run fast at any rate, and I’d obviously not run on consecutive days after a particularly long run, so hopefully I’ll be ok if the chance of running in the rain arises again! Loved it. πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I got absolutely drenched this morning, even wetter than last Wednesday.

And I loved it. So much so that I extended to 7km.

I might have done more but it stopped raining :)

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toRunaroundSue

Isn’t it wonderful? I can’t wait for my next rainy run. PR might be, but the joy of rain might be tempered a bit by the gale force winds we’re supposed to be having. 😳 πŸ’¨

Like you, I stopped at 4k as the rain was tapering off and then the sun came out! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¦ β˜€οΈ

Brilliant CC. I ran in a downpour week before last at Park Run; it was wonderful. I didn't notice the rain....just the puddles!

It is nearly a year since my graduation....so I will be allowed to run in consecutive days too? Must think about a milestone run to celebrate....anniversary of my C25k start was a bit of a damp squib!

Thinking cap on!😊

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toBeachcomber66

Fantastic isn’t it BC? I made little effort to avoid the puddles, they cooled my feet!

My graduation runniversary is August 18th. I’m going to revisit C25K and do W1R1 with Michael Johnson, except I’ll jog-run rather than walk-jog! What do you think you might do? πŸ˜€

Well done you. The only thing that kept me from running was icy pavements , didn't want to break my neckπŸ˜‚ other than that I go out in all weather's. It's amazing what running does to us, but in a really good way 😊

RunaroundSue profile image
RunaroundSueGraduate10β€’ in reply toBuddy34

Same here, I don't like the ice. We had a parkun in snow once which was ok as it is on grass so not slippery. But we stopped after one lap, only because we were worried about driving up the hill to get home. It was a good move because our road was very bad.

The only time I have failed to finish a parkrun.
