Last Sunday I reached my June goal of running 8k so when I went out this morning I has no specific plan in mind, although I thought I'd probably do 8k again, or maybe 8.5k. I ran a very comfortable 9k, 68minutes so not quick, but kept my heart rate under control which I've been focusing on recently and definitely could have run 10k but felt it was best not to be too greedy and add 2k to last week. Loved the cooler temp although running back into the wind was fun π
I've also been cutting out sugar in the last 2 weeks and this evening I've made these (added) sugar free chocolate truffles so looking forward to trying one π

Yum, they look delicious. Well done on your 9k run, that's around my comfortable get on with the rest of the day time - no point exhausting ourselves π€£π€£. 10k will be so easy, I admire you holding back at 9 - when I was at that stage of ju jus plan it was mid winter and I just went for 10 so that I could claim my badge then forget about longer runs until I saw a good weather day π€£ happy running π€
They were yummy π they just weren't like a proper chocolate!! It did feel like a comfortable pace which is a good feeling, to think I could do that regularly is good π Have you moved in yet?
π₯ I will get real cuddles tomorrow as my daughter goes back to work (happily kept on in a very vulnerable sector). Itβs only possible with us providing childcare but we judge the risk to be small. The middle one is so excited - not, as dad suspected, to get spoiled - but simply for a hug!! π
I did do a little dance in the garden when last box was unloaded, going to love being here especially as daughter and baby hugs turned up 2minutes later. Bliss π€
Congratulations on your 9K. And your Chocolate Truffles look gorgeous. I wish I could comfortably run 9K. I was able to last year, Iβve been just doing 5K for the past few months, but I plan to get back there soon.
Ha ha π ok... I had 2 π they were yummy π but... they're just not like a proper chocolate.. my quest for a sugar free chocolate might need more investigating and therefore more tasting π
Those truffles look yummy - hope they tasted as good as they look? Well done on another great run - building up sensibly. 10k is there for the taking now!π
One daughter has gone vegan. The one that still lives with us has cut out added sugar, dairy and wheat, sweet treats are a nightmare. Iβm drooling over those truffles! Well done on the 9k, youβre so nearly there.
They've just got dates, almonds, almond butter and cocoa powder in if you want me to message you the recipe? I've also got recipe for some breakfast cookies (I tend to have them as a snack) with no added sugar.. oats, ground almonds, coconut, currants cinnamon, mashed up banana.... but they do have egg in
That sounds like a really positive and controlled run. I'm so pleased for you. The truffles look ace although I don't like chocolate so you can have an extra one!!
You are really doing well with your runs and I hope through July you keep going in the same way.
Thanks π my mind just wanted to keep running... not sure how the body would have coped but looking foward to seeing how far I can go.
Don't like chocolate!!! I'm afraid it's my one real downfall... however I haven't had a proper chocolate for over 2 weeks now.. the truffles were tasty but not really a chocolate substitute... I need to keep looking!
Thanks Martin, I really enjoyed it π the run that is π the truffles were yummy, just not enough of a chocolate substitute so I'm back to searching π
Good to hear you really enjoyed your run πββοΈ π. Iβm sure youβll find some other chocolate substitute that youβll like almost as much as the real thing π«
Iβm just back from a 4 k run, average 6.37 min per k. Iβm slowly building up to 5 k initially and then weβll see where we go from there. I might well try Ju-juβs magic 10k plan.
I didnβt feel that comfortable today, felt like Iβd eaten the remainder of your yummy truffles just before my run π€£. I was glad to get it done though, and felt good after.
When I was on the IC, I think I had one or two drinks more than a usual week and one or two more naughty snacks. I must get back to good habits. Even though itβs a bit boring sometimes, it does make such a difference.
Well done again Mum22boys and happy running πββοΈ
Another good run for you today, slowly building up and if the knees behaving itself that's the main thing!
I often think you feel better after the runs that don't start so well or you don't really feel like doing.
I know what you mean, fewer treats does make it a bit more boring, but I feel so much better for it. I was just doing too much baking, it's a definite stress reliever for me and obviously lockdown equalled stress!!! I just need to find healthier things to bake.
Keep up the with progress, slow and steady is best
Thanks very much Mum22boys, yes slow and steady progress is definitely a good way to go for me at the moment.
By the way, Iβve just edited/corrected loads of typos in my previous post. The original post reads like Iβd had about 6 pints, it should make a bit more sense now. Sorry about that.
I can imagine cooking is a really good stress reliever, everyone needs something like that is possible during lockdown.
My youngest lads 14th birthday tomorrow, so after some yummy cake π Iβll be good for the rest of the week. Thatβll def make the running a bit easier too.
