Second 10k ✅

So yesterday was meant to be my second 10k race, however I woke up with the worst head cold and an incredibly sore heel / arch on my right foot! Frustrated and upset I thought it would be best to sit it out, but promised myself i would do another 10k before I fly to Croatia for a week on Thursday.

This morning I woke up, booked a physio appointment for my foot, still felt unwell so took some paracetamol and cold medicine, went to work, did a 9hr day, went to physio - got a clearance to run as long as I take a week off from Wednesday, take any runs before then REALLY slow with lots of walk breaks, ice, stretch and wear orthopaedic inserts. All sounded promising. So, at 8:00pm I finally arrive at the gym (apparently running on the treadmill is better for the foot as it’s less hard hitting) and despite possibly the worst set of circumstances (foot, sick, day of work) I RAN MY 2nd 10K, taking 1h23 - only 5 mins slower than in the morning at full fitness! Really shows how much the training programme is helping me.

This week got a slow and steady 4 miles on Wednesday (foot pending), then jetting of to Croatia for a week of rest before the really heavy half marathon distances start..

Thanks UNM! Been desperately trying to up my distances in preparation for my HM, Feb - May were so busy I could only squeeze in 3k runs so I’ve lost a fair bit of base! Hope you’re doing well?

Am so glad your physio gave you the okay to run before your holiday, Becky. And bloomin’ well done on your 2nd 10k run! 👏👏👏

A week out relaxing on holiday will do you the world of good; you can come bouncing back on fresh legs. 😁 Have a lovely time in Croatia!

I can’t imagine doing 10k on the treadmill- well done you. Enjoy that running break, you do need one every now and then
