Hello, my c25k journey started in March, I graduated in June and I’ve been running 3 times a week ever since, adding Parkruns to the mix. I have subscribed to Women’s Running magazine, I have brought running books from Amazon, I spent all last weekend reading up on optimal running foods and I’ve been listening to the “free weekly timed” (Parkrun focused) podcasts back to back to catch up with all episodes! This is madness surely!!!

Anyone else, please tell me I’m not alone...

JaoJao, I also love thinking about running. It offers focus and it means there’s always something to look forward to. Who knew it had this life-changing power?!

I want it to stay with me forever! Don’t you? 😊

Yes. I hope it does. Love the photo, by the way. Is that on your wall? What does it say after “Friends are like flowers...”?

It’s on my fridge :)

“Friends are like flowers, they brighten your day!”

You’re not 👍😃. Your shopping list looks same as mine I make my own baked beans now. I made a vat of them yesterday 😋

My niece subscribed to Womens’ Running mag for me, and it dropped on the mat yesterday, so I took it to bed to read with a cuppa

Running becomes part of your life, along with healthy eating You eat well so you can run better. 💪😃👍

Running 70% of the time, food (specifically food that will help my running) 30% of the time. 😁 😂 I subscribe to Runner’s World mag and listen to running podcasts (Running Commentary; Runpod; Runner’s World podcast), and peruse running clothing websites at least 4 times a week. SEND HELP 😱

🤣🤣 Clearly waaay beyond help, just like the rest of us! And thanks for the list of specific podcasts. 👍😮👏🏼

Runpod with Jenni Falconer is really good and the perfect length for a 5k run. 😁 x

Hahahaha, you’re definitely not alone there JaoJao! 😅 I’m either thinking about the run I’ve just done, the run I’m about to do, PR, the next race I’ve entered .... 🤔 😍

When I’m walking my dog, I imagine what it would be like to run the route. When I’m driving somewhere I do the same! 🤓 I examine terrain in great detail - routes which I assumed were pancake flat in my pre running days certainly aren’t, and I learn every incline. I am uber careful about my footing on walks or even going up and down stairs at home (turning an ankle would be horrific nowadays!!) and whereas I used to check the weather forecast daily because I owned horses, now it’s due to running. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Yep, I’m obsessed and I absolutely love being this way! Don’t start me on boring my family with stats ....... !!! 😅😅

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

I’m recognising that glazed look when talking to non-runners and family who don’t get it! 🤐

Ahhhhh, we are with you don’t worry, we get it xx

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

At least you have a fellow runner in your family Dexy! I can imagine you and UTS comparing stats - my hubby will analyse ultra slow motion rowing strokes, but finds running stats dead dull! 🙄🙄

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

Yes that is an advantage. Although, even I can get a bit glazed by UpTheStanley ’s stats. 🤣🤣 Nice to have a running buddy sometimes though. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

Wait. You, glazed by running stats? Does UpTheStanley top us all maybe? 😅🤓🏃

Haha! Love the precautions to stay injury free! Same! Checking the weather too, haha. Given the heat warning for UK today I planned my run for 6.30am this morning and so glad I’ve been out and it’s done! I am sitting on the couch in the cool indoors grinning from ear to ear with my morning effort!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to JaoJao

Good for you beating the heat! 😀👍👏

I just came in from a dog walk in the shady woods and that was hot enough. I love walking my running routes and pointing out the hills I’ve run up (my daughter was the poor unsuspecting victim this morning!) 😅😅

SkiMonday profile image
SkiMondayGraduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

Yea, I check the weather for running too. It used to be so that I could run in the dry, now I'm looking for rain because it's a great releif from the heat (discovered that when I got caught in my first downpour). It's somehow liberating to be out in the rain without waterproofs and just accepting being soaked!

I guess I'm also checking temperatures and UV levels to see if I need sun-tan lotion.

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply to SkiMonday

I think running in the rain will be a welcome relief in current UK temperatures. Yes, you raise a good point, never go out without sun protection, sun damage should not be underestimated. You’ll be pleased to know I went out lathered in SPF50!

SkiMonday profile image
SkiMondayGraduate10 in reply to JaoJao

Good move! Just make sure it's well rubbed in on your forehead so that it doesn't run into your eyes when your cooling system goes into overdrive.

Oh what I’d give for a grey drizzly day now SM! I know exactly what you mean! 😀😅

cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to JaoJao

It wasn’t! 😩😩 Just came in from PR and even though my car only says 20 degrees and I did a coastal one this morning, it was still really humid and sunny. 🥵 Of course it was fun though - PR always is! 😅

JaoJao I’m definitely with you on that! I think I’m boring anyone who hasn’t experienced the wonders of running that I talk to!!! I really want to encourage a friend to start c25k but they aren’t listening!!! Anyway I started with my sister in law and we WhatsApp daily as we understand each other’s joy of running!!! I want to shout from the roof tops . I’ve lost 11lb since March - I feel wonderful! And each day I look forward to my evening run! In rest days I look forward to the next run day!! I’ve bought a treadmill forward thinking for the dark nights. And park run is the next step! I need to run with likeminded people. I’m slow but I’m consistent and keen. I’m built for comfort not speed! My husband and son are proud of me. And I’m proud of myself!!! So thank you c25k and all you lovely ‘forum friends’!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply to Sammy-Lou

Sammy that’s wonderful, I bet you feel transformed with the weight loss and your new found love for running and the freedom it bring with it. I joined Parkrun after graduation and it’s been a great experience, I’ve done 7 now! I’m

Addicted, you will be too. I love the forward thinking into winter and doing Parkrun will ensure you get at least one run in the week when it turns darker as you’ll be doing it with others. Xx

I with you. It seems every waking hour I’m thinking about running. I thought I was strange but obviously not 😂. I have so many books about running on my kindle I get confused as to which to read next. I’m always looking at running clothes. I’ve switched my Gourmet Society card from the bank for a subscription to Running magazine and me and my running buddy message each other almost daily about running. In fact I’m missing her at the moment as she is on holiday and I don’t want to interrupt her family time. I’m always thinking about my last run, next run and my first race. Wonderful madness. 😊🏃🏻‍♀️😂

I'm exactly the same JaoJao! Once went to parkrun with my daughter, came home and proceeded to discuss the events of the morning for 3 whole hours!! according to my husband (he's used to it now!) Love running 💕🏃‍♀️

I've never been remotely interested in exercise until I started the C25K back in Feb, now I'm hooked! A work colleague and I are VRB's so we discuss everything running, I'm constantly thinking about my next run (I'm doing the Magic 10), planning routes, what time to go out, what to wear, who'd have thought!

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply to Julia187

What is VRB? Virtual Running Buddy? The whole experience has transformed me in a way I never expected. I had a lot of free time on my hands and this has been a great way to fill it up

phew! Thank goodness I'm not alone! I talk an awful lot about running to my partner, but he just doesn't get it! I see his eyes rolling while I try and show him my latest route and times on Strava! It's so good to be part of this forum. I struggled a little at the end of my run this morning because of the heat, nearly 5k. Now, where shall I go for my next run? .....

You’ve touched a nerve here, JaoJao! There seem to be an awful lot of us whisking along the tracks & paths, listening to the podcasts, and discussing runny things. 😮 And I reckon the running gear industry must be totally thriving! 😊👍

I think I'm slacking lol

I do think about it a lot, but I haven't subscribed to anything, I do browse the internet for running stuff occasionnally, I know I spend way too much time on this forum ;) but that's about it.

I don't look at running clothes, I don't look at shoes other than what has been show on here (that I love looking at though), To be fair, I am not very clothes conscious even in my every day life, if I have stuff that does the job I'm happy :D

I have 3 pairs of running joggers, 3 t-shirts, two sports bra, 3 pairs of socks and one pair of running shoes, that's it. I only have that many cos I run 3 times a week and do the washing at the weekend ;) The sports bras get rinsed out by hand mid week

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply to backintime

Hey there, similar to you I am not always looking at running clothes either. Maybe because I feel I’m still in the infancy of my running journey. I have a sports bra, running top, various running leggings shorts, running socks and trainers. It’s all practical and fine for now! My madness is mostly knowledge, learning, caring and sharing centred.

I think it gets us all. Check routes, check weather forecasts. When going on holiday or trips, check out where’s the nearest parkrun, routes where others have run. Choosing destinations especially because of a parkrun or particular running opportunity. Chasing down various parkrun challenges. Eyeing up everyone’s shoes (running ones of course). Hoarding kit and equipment. Preparing runners’ breakfast (Bircher muesli, known in our house as ‘gloop’) ready for tomorrow’s run. Wondering when our house guests are going to arrive and how long we can leave them when we go out to parkrun in the morning without it being rude. Building training plans for the next event. Oh yes, it’s a proper addiction.

So last night I had a dream I went to Parkrun and when I finished I was in a queue of people to get my barcode scanned, this must be a good sign as I’ve never had much of a queue before for my 35-39 minute results previously! Anyway, when the results came out, I completed in 19 minutes!!!!!!!!

Definitely a dream 😂😂😂 wishful thinking!!!!!!!

And I left the Parkrun mindlessly without finishing my token sorting duty!!!!! Poops!
