Yeah. I’m loving it. Love the coached runs😍 I have one of their free plans. You can then select a guided run to match the distance or time of the planned run and then assign that run to the plan when you’ve run it. Good idea I reckon You Take your own running coach with you I’ve done the two hour coached run with Coach Bennett and really enjoyed it.

I’m fond of old Bennett. 😉

His delivery reminds me of Woody Allen 😁. What! Are you crayzeee 🤷‍♀️

I mix it up a bit. Sometimes I listen to my running playlist on Spotify which I’m always adding to! They’re particularly cheesy tunes - lots of 80’s! 😀🎵🏃‍♀️ Sometimes it’s the radio or a podcast, and sometimes I run in silence. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I don’t regularly use an app any more as I have my Garmin which auto syncs to Strava. I used to use MapMyRun which was good. When I have to (!) I use JogRunSprint for intervals. That’s about it though. 😀

That's interesting... I'm fairly new .. so learning as i go.. havent went down the watch route as yet mainly due to costs.. use strava on my phone.

Are u part of a run club too?

No, I’ve never really fancied joining one, although apparently they can be brilliant.👍

How do I get my garmin to auto sync to Strava. Just got my watch last week so still learning 😊

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toBuddy34

Have you downloaded Garmin Connect on your phone Buddy? If so, you can link Strava to it (it must have been easy - I managed ok 😅). Then when you save your run on your watch and sync it to Garmin Connect, it also auto syncs to Strava. 👍

Just a phone with mp3s on it. I either go with shuffle for the surprise factor or prepare a playlist in advance.

I listen to nothing but the birds in the forest. I sometimes think maybe a distraction would be good.

Before I got my Garmin watch I used Runkeeper - no need now although I have set up the Garmin to sync to it, so I have all my runs recorded in one app. I always have music (except for parkrun) - whatever I fancy listening to this week (yesterday it was Music Planet from Radio 3). 🎧😀

I've not went down the "watch " route...but I'm interested.. so expensive. Wouldn't know where to start..

They can be pricy. Here's a good summary

Many on this forum have the Forerunner 35 or 235. I picked up a second-hand 35 on eBay for £65.

I run fastest when I’m running to music, that is upbeat music. I run slowest when I’m listening to a podcast, my favourite podcast is a free weekly times which is a podcast for parkrun. My most focused runs are done to meditation and these have helped me perform better at Parkruns I hope that helps

Ooooohhh " free weekly times " does sound like a good idea!

I listen to my ever growing Spotify run list in the winter (helps motivate me at 6.00am) but nothing in the summer as I love listening to the birds.

Mostly I run naked. No headphones as it’s safer on the roads. Just my Garmin beeping at me. Sometimes I listen to books or podcasts or running music off Apple Music. But to be honest I prefer to just listen to what’s going on around me and whatever is going on in my head. Most times nothing 😂

Mowtown does it for me. ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’, ‘Stop in the name of love’, ‘End of the road’, ‘I’ll be there’, ‘Keep on Trukin, etc etc ....all the lyrics seem to fit.

I usually run to music (find that Status Quo gives me a good rhythm to run to). However, the two 10K runs I have signed up to say that headphones aren't allowed so a little nervous as to how that will work.

Lucyintheskywith profile image
LucyintheskywithGraduate10

Aftershockz headphones maybe are allowed...bone conduction..

Status Quo.. with you there!

I have free Endomondo to track my distance and rout and then for my music player I use Musicolet and download mp3's to my phone :)

I love trance so get all my mix's free on sound cloud then I bounce along quite happily :D

I like Endomondo as I'm very much a lone runner, another I tried had people friending me and following me and that freaked me out! I love my lone time, I even quite like leaving the dog behind (but don't tell him that :D )

Lucyintheskywith profile image
LucyintheskywithGraduate10 in reply toAnren

I've not heard of Endomondon or musicolet or evenn trance .. none of these ..

Anren profile image
AnrenGraduate10 in reply toLucyintheskywith

I'm often outside of the norm ;) The first is a free or paid running app on Android, the second it a free but very good music playing app on android too and trance is a type of uplifting electronic dance music <3

I use Pod Runner (podrunner.com/) for fixed beat and Pod Runner Intervals (podrunner.com/programs.html) when I want to vary speed or do interval training.

I love the podcast “there’s no such thing as a fish”. It’s leftover QI facts and very funny/informative. I’m often giggling as I go and try not to look too demonic as I pass others!

I am a fan of Rock my Run. A free app with loads of old choons. Even Beatles. It doesn’t show times for each K, but I can manage with just some times, distance and map and enjoy singing along to the tunes of my yoof!

Free version of Mapmyrun, random selection of favourite music, (I change my “Run!” playlist when I am beginning to get bored with it) & a variety of radio four podcasts such as “the food program “, “Desert Island Discs “ & “Woman’s hour”. .. so the decision each time is… “Do I run to music or do I run to the spoken word?” 😀

Mostly Nike Run Club with the Music they pick out on Apple Music. Recently Runkeeper for the extra info on cadence they have. Again linked to Apple Music.

I sign up one or the other training plans to give me specific targets to work on.

I prefer letting apps pick music. Helps me explore new genre/artists/songs. Almost all other times I only listen to my own collection.

Off late I am not listening to any music because my running group says we should pay more attention to our body and surroundings while running.

Once I figure out how to make this work with my smart watch, I think I will go back to music while running.

I've never been able to get that nike run club app to work on my android.. so deleted. Do like idea of apps picking music.. although as i use spotify that wouldn't work for me..

I'm also considering joining a run club too..
