Do you run to or with music?๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ•บ

Most times I run with music. Tracks which act as a bit of a diversion. Sometimes however I find I run to music , keeping time with the tune. T-rex, I love to boogie ( not Google as predictive text chose) , mambo ( not mango) number 5, Hall and Oats you make my dreams come true, Jerry Lee great balls of fire along with a few others find me stricking in time.

Does this happen to you and what are your tracks.๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•บ

Jancanrun's playlists are very good for running, especially for us old uns over a certain age, try them on ITunes or Spotify

Excellent, yesterday I ran my first full 5k Parkrun WITHOUT any music, but other runs or walks I do listen to music, I never have music on when I am out cycling, I do think it's a bit of a distraction while cycling.

I had clocked you were doing 1st park run and naked. Good man hope it went well.

I enjoyed my first parkrun yesterday running "naked," for the benefit of anyone new here, running naked is not running with no clothes on, you wouldn't get far, but running with no running apps, prompts, music, Mapmyrun, metromone, etc. I don't see the point of running where there is a official time clock, you might be disappointed if your time said for example in a 5K was 29.55 and you got your official time for the parkrun as 30.09, your joy on running a sub 30 minute 5k would be short lived.

Like a heatwave - Martha Reeves and the Vandellas

Bat out of hell - Meatloaf

Proud Mary - Ike and Tina Turner

I feel good - James Brown

I don't feel like dancing - Scissor Sisters

I have loads : )

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10โ€ข in reply tobackintime

Proud Mary is difficult as it speeds up and my little legs can not do that

backintime profile image

It's good for a sprint

I've seen Martha Reeves and the Vandellas LIVE twice. Showing me age!

My son calls me "Old Bat out of Hell" LOL

I've got Proud Mary by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and several others of theirs on my playlist. Love James Brown!

We are still fairly new and slow but run in time to most Jason Mraz tracks nice beat and uplifting words

Love your choices could feel T. rex beat as I read your post

RunningroniGraduate10โ€ข in reply toSueAppleRun

Depending on my mood I either run listening to a audiobook or for music I make recordings of the Sky Radio running channel, I often record a couple of hours at a time, it's always a mixed bag of music but always 'running type music' and a surprise as to what I'm going to get ๐Ÿ˜€ .... I recommend it, if anybody's interested it's here; skyradio.nl

Do you have tunes you run in time to, a bit like dancing.

orangeguy profile image
orangeguyGraduate10โ€ข in reply toRunningroni

Not really, I'm quite consistent with my pace whatever I'm listening to but music with a 'running beat' does tend to spur me on a bit when the going gets a bit tough ๐Ÿ˜Š

Agreed, some songs just make you pick up the pace when you legs are a bit weary.

I love running to music and pick my tracks for the run. I have running uphill music, which I love! For long runs I choose songs with strong lyrics that don't repeat, such as Bob Dylan or Rod, Chuck Berry. I love Led Zep

My fave slow uphill run tune is John Lee Hooker "Jesse James" It's a belter! Proper kick ass tune I like all sorts to be fair

I have been impressed by your musical knowledge in the past. Nothing to do with being old just a love of good tunes.

I just find some songs I run to the beat and it helps my tired legs.

Yes if I use the C25k+ speed and stamina podcasts. There's one track that has a cello in the background. I love that one ๐ŸŽต

If Iโ€˜m running on country roads then definitely no music but off-road then always music. Big, epic orchestral stuff to stir the soul and get the legs moving ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I canโ€™t run a long run without music and I even turned around from a route on Saturday to drive home again as Iโ€™d forgotten my iPod!

I started out putting together playlists at both walking BPM and running BPM. However, I found it difficult to quickly get correct BPMs from Uncle Google and I couldn't be bothered to measure them all myself. Therefore, my playlist varied in speed too much. Also, the choice of music was relatively limited.

Nowadays, I run to a randomly generated playlist of all my favourite songs, which I find much better. I don't run in time to the music but I do get moments of pure joy when something wonderful appears in my ears just as I'm flagging! :)

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10

I have varied playlists but sometimes my brain tells my feet to run in time to the music. I too have some tracks that make me happy and put a bit of a spring into tired legs.

I need to join one of your spreadsheet runs at some point. Not one with big hills.

Hope you are well.

ABBA.. (sad I know.)..!

Nothing sad about that. Millions of folk get up and dance to their songs at weddings etc.

Glad to hear you are on the mend.

Thanks you..it is blooming slow.. and I am, listening to, Chiquitita a lot...the pace of that just keeps me going!

Never got the hang of running to music - my pace doesn't seem to fit with the mix of stuff I listen to . So it's often radio programmes I haven't had the chance to listen to - currently Cerys Matthews' blues show, Mark Radcliffe's folk show and Don Letts on 6 Music!๐ŸŽง๐Ÿ˜€
