I love running on my own. Just me in my own little world .... oh wait.. that’s me most of the time.

Hi Paul,

running on your own is harder. Since I joined a club I seldom run alone. When I do the runs seem a lot longer.

Running faster is like running longer. You follow a plan and build up to it slowly.

What about a 33 minute 5K?

Run at your easy pace but do intervals of running at 6'30" per km. Start with 60 seconds with 5 minutes at easy pace. On the next week do 90 seconds. Then 2 minutes. And so on and so forth.

The only way to run faster is to run faster. It will be hard work but C25K wasn't easy.

I know it's off topic, but I made a small bet with myself that today you would be Rutger Hauer.

You’re actually doing quite well to do a 5K in under 40 minutes, it is respectable. Practice makes perfect and they will come improvements so carry on on your journey and you will see that time drop

It’s a bit hot for pushing things. Wait til it’s cooler 😃👍

I’ve been doing coached runs with the free Nike run Club app That’s like having a coach running with you. You could try that if you’re feeling lonesome All distances or times, treadmill runs too. Hot runs, cold runs, intervals etc etc

Great attitude, and true, but the heat is draining.

I am reading a book called The Art of Running Faster and it's really interesting. Haven't been able to run recently due to injury but I am really looking forward to trying out some of the ideas in the book. I am naturally a plodder but would love to be a bit nipper over 5k!
