Hi everyone I hope you've all had a great week. I've fallen behind with everyone's posts so will get on to that later x Not really sure where last week went π€·ββοΈ
W4R3 was the long one. My first time to 50mins. That extra 5 mins felt a long way but otherwise ok.
W5R1 would normally be my short run but not sure how today would go I did 30mins. Plugged into the last of the run with Lopez NRC runs. I was nearly in tears so many times, had I been at home I'd have been a sniffling mess! His story is quite extraordinary. How he has come through it and his attitude to life is a lesson to us all.
So today involved an early start (Not good) to head to Gungho in Southampton. For the uninitiated it's a 5km run with about 10 giant inflatables to clamber over/through. The running was tough to start, my friends were all "I'm unfit I'll run slowly" etc was not my version of slowly. I'm an evening runner and my body did not appreciate being subjected to exercise! so early in the day. Those inflatables are quite energy sapping, awash with smelly water (it was raining βΉ) (wet knickers after the 1st obstacle π¬) but great fun π The giant wall was almost impossible to scale without assistance. Unfortunately I have tweaked my knee on landing. I'm due to long run on Monday so will see how it is π€ The run ends by getting covered in bubbles. Unsurprisingly the 8 yr old thought this was the best bit and kept jumping back in πππ
Whilst it wasn't a continuous run I'm counting this as my short one for the week π€ Off to cook my pasty for tea and catch up on everyone's posts x
Happy running folks xxx

Thanks. I'm always protective of this knee if I get any pain as badly broke it as a child. Traction, bolt through my knee, the works! Its feeling worse now π. Stairs are not fun so a good few days off I think βΉ but better that than weeks so I will behave myself π
I have been on the injury couch for a week, so have fallen behind somewhat. Aiming to start again tomorrow. Will give it a couple of trial runs then follow the distance plan to 10K. I hope...
Sounds like a lot of fun apart from the knee tweaking. Not convinced of the wisdom of running on Monday though, have you seen the weather forecast?!? Hot hot hot! Take it steady n go early if you do go x
I have to say that a series of wet inflatables sounds like my idea of hell! How on earth did you get mixed up in that?? Anyhow, well done and take very good care of that knee!
Well, if that's what your best friends give you, who are we to argue π Glad you had fun anyway, hopefully that knee will feel a bit better tomorrow π€
I also did Southampton gung ho yesterday with my 7 year old. Have to agree that wall was impossible and felt silly having someone pulling me up. Also that water was very stinky had to put the trainers in the wash. Was bit frustrating that we didnβt start at 9am but glad they were draining water out of one of the inflatables. My daughter winged and moaned the whole way round but as soon as we had finished she said that was the best run ever.
Just off to junior park run now, my daughter will be getting her half marathon band thins morning. She is definitely having an active weekend.
