Apologies for the tease on Tues that I would post new trainer pic on Thurs π Thurs eve arrived and I just CBA to run. It was hot I was tired and generally irritable so thought it's fine I'll do Friday. Friday I get called in to do evening pony checks at the last minute. Ok Saturday - nope, I rode in the morning, was too hot during the day then did evening ponies early expecting a girlie evening out - which got cancelled. Now I'm in a grump because I'm too knackered to run and no fancy supper βΉ
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice I haven't done W3R2. With my rubbish week I have decided, just this once, to skip that run π€― Please don't banish me for committing this sin πππ
Today's run I found a rather apt NRC guided run called A Rainy Run. 45 min long so perfect for today's 44min. And yes folks I set out in the rain! Its that really fine rain so you don't really feel like it's raining. Perfect temp too πππ
Km 2 and 3 were a new route which took me across some fields. I love doing this as you don't focus on the act of running when your busy looking out for the next turning. I then discovered you get very wet, squelchy feet if there is long grass overhanging the path π note to self, wear the waterproof socks next time! Further note to self, running in the summer rain is kinda fun. π
The first 3km I felt rather spritly and had to remind myself to slow down. The last 2km were less easy but on checking the stats I had negative splits π€¦ββοΈ mmm that explains why π. Hit the 5km mark as Coach Bennett counted down the end if the run, so pleased with that.
Now the new shoes? Well exactly the same as the old ones but bought off EBay, brand new for Β£50! πππ Happy days. I'll give them a try out on Tuesday for week 4 short run. Couldn't wear them today, it's raining!!! ππ
Finally congratulations to my fellow classmates on completing W3. Fab job everyone πππ
Happy running folks xxx

Well done on your run through the fields in the summer rain, sounds wonderful, squelchy feet aside! And fabulous new shoes, far too nice to get wet! π π β
Ah, welcome to the world of squelchy running among the long grasses! Weβve had no rain for ages, but the dew is enough to do the same for my feet on my morning trot across the fields via increasingly narrow tracks. π
And lovely shoes! So good to find the right thing as a bargain. ππΌ
The initial squelch is a bit yuk but after that it's not so bad is it? π Pesky nettles are getting in the way though! Not good with cropped legs π¬
you can do the runs in any order jogunlikely, and you can spend more than a week on them so no need to miss one out. Feel free to take as long as you want between runs.
Thanks Dexy. I know I could but I don't want to fall behind the group π€¦ββοΈ. I really need to keep the momentum going. With the longer runs there is a high risk of me giving up the magic plan if I get out of sync with everyone else. I think I'm early enough in the program for it to ok ish just this once. π€
Nice colour π. Glad you enjoyed your run in the summer rain - I agree it is very refreshing but wet feet are a bit uncomfortable. How do you find waterproof socks?
The end result of a friend saying "will you accompany me on a walk in aid of British Heart Foundation? They do them from 5km upwards". "Of course" i said, "not a problem" thinking maybe she'd pick 25km at a push. How wrong was I???
it was an achievement though and couldn't have been soo bad as did another one the following year. Might even do the Jurassic Coast 100km next year but that's REALLY hilly
Top marks for bargain shoes! I've avoided the squelchy runs, it's still really dry around here, but those nettles growing across the path sometimes with added bramble, it makes it all very exciting πΆ
Iβm hating those nettles in cropped tights. They just reach out and grab you! Glad you are sticking with it. Just did the 50 minutes today, never thought THAT would happen when I first started C25K!
