Listen to your body

Thought I'd just give a wee word of warning to all you lovlies about listening to our bodies!!

I completed C25K in March and slowly worked on the 10k plan to complete 1 x 10k all be it on the treadmill and in an awsome snails pace of 78mins, but it was with 70 mins of continous jogging!!

Then all seemed to go pear shaped! I took a few days rest after my 10k and then on my next run really really struggled to complete 4k, then a few days later could hardly run for 15mins, I took a weeks rest then tried again .......... 3 mins max running time??

My heart felt as if it was beating out my chest even just when taking my dogs for a walk!

Eventually went to doctors regarding another problem and turns out I was severly anaemic with very low ferritin (iron) levels.

It just goes to show how one wee blip can have such a debilitating affect on our health. I have now been on iron tablets for about a month, ran on treadmill last week and managed to do 5k, it took 40mins but I did it, and I ran another 40 min 5k yesterday again and altho tired, my heart wasn't exploding!!

Please all listen to your bodies, yes sometimes we have bad runs, but you know your bodies best and if it don't feel right, don't ignore it!! 😁

Wow Millie, thank you for posting. How scary for you - I’m glad you know what it was and you’re able to run again. Well done!

You’re right, we assume our bodies can deal with everything we throw at them. We need to listen to them in the meantime. ❤️

Great that you're feeling better and hopefully fitter after getting your iron levels back up 😊

Crikey, okay, but if you have another episode, don't wait until then. Try to get an emergency appointment.

Take care.
