Two days in a row

Well this is a first for me!! The first time I have run 2 days in a row, that is. I went out yesterday and then thought I had an appointment so cut it short and only ran 2k. It felt a bit rushed and abbreviated and I felt disappointed all day. Added to that I had muddled my days up and the appointment and a couple of others things were actually today. So I had promised to collect my son, after he’d dropped his van off for MOT, and take him to work at 7.40 so I set my alarm for 5.45 and went for another run at 6.00am.

I was a bit wary as this was the first time I’d run on consecutive days but off I went with a plan to run 5k at least. And my plan worked. And my 3rd fastest time too!! It was lovely and cool at that time of the morning. But still really thick with pollen- I was glad I’d remembered my inhalers. However, it was a lovely run, nice and steady, no heavy legs, breathing fairly easy. If I hadn’t had to get back for my son I felt I could have kept on going for another 5k.

The trouble is now I am tempted to go again tomorrow. Do I? Or will it be too much? To go from alternate days running to every day or should I ease off a bit ?

Advice please 🤔🤨

Perhaps running three days in a row is pushing it a bit, have at least a day off running, otherwise you could do yourself a injury.

Looks like you’ve been running for 18 months now, I think as long as you listen to your body and don’t go wild you should be OK.

I’ll see how I feel tomorrow

Gradual progression is always safest with a high impact activity. Why not go to 4 runs a week for a while.

Yeah I think that sounds sensible. I did think of doing sunday morning , monday evening, Tues off , wednesday morning, thursday evening, Fri off etc and then After I’ve got used to that for a few months reviewing the situation

Just remember never to follow a hard run with another hard run.

I did 7 days running every day a few months ago, but only 3k each day and I was fine with no ill effects. I think its ok once in a while, maybe for the occasional week but not all the time. I'm back to my standard three times a week now but longer distances.

I find it depends on how hard you run or how hard you think it feels. I ran on 4 consecutive days this week and then had 2 days of no running.

How did you get on?
