One of the joys of this plan is that you don't have to do all the runs in the order they suggest, you can take extra rest days, the plan is made to suit your life rather than vice versa.
Thursday was my first run of Week 3. NRC suggested a 25 minute recovery run, but the sun was shining, conditions were perfect and I wanted to go further, so the second run, 'Grateful 5K', matched my mood a lot better.
I set off with my light windproof jacket on but within 10 minutes had to take it off, it was just too warm. It was a glorious morning and this time I remembered to wear a peaked cap so no sun dazzle. The second km of the route was very rough, the mud has been churned up by dogwalkers and horse riders following all the recent rain and it is still very uneven. After this I was able to pick my speed up a little. Not a fast run but I wasn't aiming for speed.
Come Saturday morning there was a lot to do as we were going to see family in London and had to be away by 12, so the 'first' run, 'A New Run' was a much better fit than the 5K would have been. Another gentle run, picking up my pace for the final km when I decided to push myself a bit.
Once home I decided I deserved a decent breakfast. The nearest McDonalds is a 30 minute drive so I had to improvise - Ikea potato pancake, local sausage meat squashed flat to a circle, a slice of processed cheese and a fried egg inside a muffin, food of the gods!! I blame Coach B for rambling on about pancakes
