Good morning.
My third Magic Plan run was also my third Parkrun. Definitely a case of third time lucky.
It was a glorious day – perhaps TOO glorious, as it was the hottest conditions in which I’ve run since I started in late February. But a lovely blue sky was a joy to behold after a month of unrelenting rain and clouds. And parts of the track are in shade, offering some relief.
As always, the good feeling of the event spurred me on and I ran inexplicably faster than I ever can in the week. Never underestimate the power of adrenalin. I would really urge anyone considering a Parkrun to give it a go for this reason: you will be swept away by the excitement and your time will improve. It’s SO different to running on your own.
The hills were still evil, but at least I know them now. I tried Debston’s trick of laughing at the hill, but the best I could manage was a sort of grimacing smile.
Anyway, I beat my time of last week, so that was satisfying. Looking forward to the next one already.
