Once again while Damienair is taking a well deserved break with his family I am hosting this weeks (Not Parkrun ) post.
There are now several countries that official Parkruns are now taking place, if you are in one of those countries you can also report on how your run went, I understand that England will return to official Parkruns on 24th July and other countries in the UK a few weeks later.
Tell us how your run went, what your time was and a weather report, I wish you all good luck for your 5K not or official Parkrun, if you have already ran it like I did on Wednesday as part of a 8K run, that is fine, my 5K split time of 34.54 was posted to my home parkrun website, altogether on that 8K run I got a PB of 56.42.

Yes I was very pleased with my 8K PB on Wednesday.
Yesterday I reran run 3 of week 9 of C25K, the graduation run with my friend from my Thursday morning walking group, I have been running all the third runs from week 5 to week 9 with him, usually on a Friday.
I congratulated him after he graduated and then treated him to coffee and cake in a nearby Hortens restaurant.
I was up early this morning so thought I would beat the heat for my last (not) parkrun🤞. I left the house at 5.40, but it was already 15° and the sun was already peeking above the houses along my route. A very enjoyable 29.40 with perfect negative splits (6.08, 5.59, 5.52, 5.51, 5.50). Happy running everyone! 😀
Can’t wait for the real thing next week, for lots of us anyway.🤞🎉
This morning my run was actually an intervals session on my HM plan, but I wanted to post a final (not) PR time and I rounded up to 5k. The run consisted of a five minute warmup, followed by 20 x 30 second speed intervals with one minute slow jog recoveries in between each! Bonkers in the heat but so much fun! The time wasn’t that relevant, but for the record it was 37:36.
Good run for you CC, Damienair says that even if the (not) parkruns end we can still report on how we got on regarding official Parkruns, I notice with the official Parkruns now being on in N. Ireland they still have the (not) parkrun forum still on, for example Portrush Parkrun had around 150 running but about 10 still reported on Portrush (not ) parkrun.
Good morning Al and everyone! We finally arrived back in France on Thursday after a very long 10 months of not being allowed to come. Felt a little sluggish this morning as we slightly overdid the celebrating our return so went out later than planned and it was already over 20 degrees. 30+ expected every day for the next week 🥵🥵Anyway I warmed up by walking up the killer hill from our house to the restaurant, giving me an elevation gain of 44m rather than 65, then ran through the vineyards across to Monbazillac. A time of 32.35 wasn’t too bad considering. Now for coffee and a croissant before we continue tackling the overgrown jungle which used to be our garden 😂😂
After graduation I had to take a break for a while due to an injury but I've since built up again slowly and have been consolidating for some time at 30 min runs to make sure it didn't flare up again. This morning I got out for my run at 6am (a rarity for me to even be awake at that time on a Saturday! ) in order to beat the heat.
I was on a fairly flat but beautiful off road route and I found my groove so decided just to keep going to reach my first 5k. I've never done an official parkrun, but my first (not)parkrun time was 41.45. But more than the time, it's just nice to have finally reached that distance! A few easier runs now and then I'll perhaps do another next weekend. Happy running everyone!
Very wise on running your first 5K (not) parkrun early in the morning to avoid the heat, congratulations on that 41.45 time, I am sure it won't be long before you can get a sub 40 minute 5K 🏃🏾 👍,enjoy the rest of the day suntaning.
Well done on your 8K PB AlMorr! I did my (Not) Parkrun along the seafront at Bognor Regis🏖 this morning🏃♂️It was already warm at 8am 🥵 so the sea breeze was very welcome. I’m coming back from injury so I took it gently and stopped for water at the end of every km💦 and treated myself to an ice cream 🍨and coffee when I’d finished.
Despite a busy day yesterday with an hour's canal walk for a tapas lunch with glass of wine, an hour to walk home then an easy afternoon, with snooze!, followed by our first night out since March 2020 (a real folk club instead of on Zoom, although the half size audience were not allowed (supposed) to sing along), we set a parkrun alarm to get out early before the heat.
My run was steady but not speedy, I am not telling you the time, and hot!
A very welcome 2nd breakfast followed.
We will do our last (not)parkrun next Friday because we will be scanning barcodes at the first real parkrun next Saturday.
It is difficult, there was certainly a lot of miming and some audible, but no one was belting it out. Which in some ways is a good thing, I hate it when one or two singers make it difficult to hear the act on the stage. At one festival I had to move my seat because the woman in front of me was singly too loudly. And badly!
It was a really good evening although it was weird driving home in the dark.
12 of us are meeting for the first time on Monday for a ukulele rehearsal ready for a gig on Saturday. I do have mixed feelings about it but it is a long-planned, much-postponed memorial for one of our members who succumbed to Covid-19 in the early days of the pandemic.
The following week we have an outdoor Buskulele at the village market, I am more relaxed about that one (mainly because I am the boss and have more control over the arrangements )
I am wary of accepting any requests for indoor gigs for a while yet.
Banjolele. But we try not to mention him in our group
There are some groups that take him so seriously that all songs have to be played EXACTLY the way GF played them.
There are even regular GF weekends in Blackpool. A friend went to one but couldn't manage to stay the whole weekend watching performer after performer playing the same songs.
Still, plenty of people like him. I think his films were quite good to watch - just once.
Good afternoon Al and all,Amazing weather out there today for what might be our last Saturday (not)parkrun. I’ll have to keep doing it as I’ve accumulated a few Strava local legends over the past 16 months 🤣
We started off later than we’d have liked and it was already 18C. I never intended this to be a fast run as we’ve the HM tomorrow and I really need to save my legs. I had my new white running hat and a soaked buff round my neck to try out for tomorrow.
There were a lot of dog walkers but the traffic hasn’t built up much yet. As we started the last k we saw our parkrun ED (Event Director) and his wife, who runs the Juniors, walking down the road with a big parkrun sign. If it hadn’t been for tomorrow it might have been nice to join them as I suspect they may have been doing a practice run.
Petrol station corner was quite well behaved and we went into the last bend not feeling too bad. 28:46. Not quite the slower run I was aiming for but slower and it’s less time on your feet and out in the sun. Definitely need to be slower tomorrow 🤣🤣
Happy running everyone and here’s to an actual parkrun report next week 😀👏👏👏
It is a lovely day TailChaser, I am out in the garden reading all the (not) parkrun reports. England will have the official Parkruns back next Saturday at least for a short while, probably the (not) parkruns will be back in the Autumn the way things are going, I heard the news today that another lockdown could be back by October I wish you good luck for your HM tomorrow, take it easy as the weather is to be hot and sunny.
Oh yes, nice photo of some of you VRB's at Southampton on the parkrun Facebook page during the week. Geoff pointed it out saying, I am sure I recognise her (TailChaser)I said, yes most of those came to Lyme Park, oh so long ago
I confess it was me RunaroundSue. I just replied to a message on the Parkrun Facebook page and the next thing I saw it was put up as a post. Apologies to everyone for not seeking permission to put a photo on Facebook. I’ve never used it before , and I would have written a better post had I realised they’d do that,.
I'm currently on holiday (like Damien) on the west coast of our island (just as Damien's on the west coast of his island), so I've been keeping away from the laptop keyboard as much as possible.
This morning I got out too late (8.45am) and did a hilly 5km run in very warm conditions, keeping in the shadows of the hedges where possible.
It was hard keeping going but I did it. Strava says it was my third fastest 5km at 28'13".
Mr Garmin has been variously rating me with VO₂Maxes of between 47 and 50 this week. It's been far too warm to do longer runs. In the last week I've done: 5.5km (Sun), 2.1km (Mon), 2.9km (Tue), 4.5km (Thu), 3km (Fri) and 5km (today), and LOTS of walking.
I'm looking forward to doing my first ever in-person Parkrun next Saturday morning.
Nice run and a good time for you today nowster, you say it's too warm to do longer runs, I do feel sorry for all those runners who are doing a HM tomorrow, the temperature is to be well into the mid or upper 20's C/80F.
Hello Al, Well done on your 8k PB, you are getting very speedy.
It was due to be a hot one today so we were out of the house by 8.30, which is early for us, but not quite as good as early as JonathanP . I have started the NRC running plan so I switched on the guided speed run, with UpTheStanley following obediently Behind. It was a 5 min warm up, then 1 min 5k pace and 2 mins recovery pace (8 times) and a gentle run to make up the 5k.
We had to change our intended route because it is a rowing race weekend so people were crossing the promenade with boats. This is an annual event and luckily it was this weekend. Southsea Parkrun is always cancelled when it is on.
So a (not) parkrun time of 36.33, 8 minutes of which was run at around 5.50 pace. 19C when we started and getting hotter. Breakfast at The Briny again! We warned them that parkrun is back next week. Hoorah!
Good run for you Dexy5, I bet you are looking forward to next Saturday, it could be very busy as this is the first official Parkrun since 14th March 2020, by the way apart from that 8K I ran on Wednesday, on Friday, with my friend from my Thursday morning walking group who has been doing C25K, I ran with him, run 3 of week 9 and to celebrate his graduation I treated him with a cake and coffee from the nearby Hortens restaurant.
It’s great that you are helping your friend, and nice company for you too. Do you listen to the C25k lesson or just run when your friend does? Coffee and cake is mandatory on a Thursday and a graduation run. 🧁
I ran that graduation run with Laura, he asked me to put week 9 on my Smartphone, he also asked me to set my metromone app at 155 Steps, cadence a minute, we covered 3km:805m in that 30 minutes graduation run, 3 years ago when I graduated from C25K I covered 4km:243m, he could here Laura and the tik tok of my metromone app coming out of my pocket, for the last few minutes I took the phone out of my pocket so he could see how long he had to go. Keith my friend actually comes from England, Shropshire to be precise, he has lived in Scotland for about 10 years and likes it, I will tell him about Healthunlocked and this forum and invite him to join it..
Good morning from Warrington! Just sitting in the garden after my second Not Parkrun of the week! Today’s was slightly slower, so Friday’s 30.02 goes on the record! Both were early morning runs. I must admit that I’ve started really enjoying the early runs. I’d always done mid-morning runs since starting C25K, believing that I couldn’t run on a totally empty stomach. I’ve always been a “must have breakfast” guy. Even if I was late for work, I’d still have breakfast first. But now, being out of the house by 7, then having breakfast after is ideal. Well done to everyone on their runs this weekend and thanks for hosting.
Well done to you Kipperrun on running 2 (not ) parkruns this week, perhaps next time you will get a sub 30 minute 5k, you were very wise on running early in the morning to avoid the heat of later in the day, I always have a breakfast before I run.
Hello Al and thank you for hosting the Not Parkrun post.
I ventured out much later than normal yesterday evening as I had spent the day with family. Glad I did as the temperature was not too bad.I ran along the sea front and there was a gentle breeze which helped.
I recorded a time of 22.43 and a pleasing last km of 4.17.
Best time to run and avoid the heat, either later in the day or earlier in the morning, running by the sea will cool you down a little as well with a sea breeze, 22.43, another excellent time, congratulations.
Hi have been doing 5 km walks all week and fastest was 46.08 on Wednesday . I did 10 km walk today and first 5 km was a bit slower. Out today at 6.20. Temp was a pleasant 13 degrees before the heat of now . First time in shorts usually leggings. Legs won’t know what’s wrong with them getting exposed. Well done on your on P B 8 km run. 👏👍
20 degrees pah! It felt much warmer than Wednesday's 25 degrees even if yesterday I was in some shade for about 60% of the route. Still very slow 46'40. 🐌but felt hard for the first 3K. It eased off but promised myself only 5K. Then I cleared old carpets and rubbish my mum had collected in her garage. We joke she is about 2 steps away from becoming a hoarder. Instead of 5 five clothes airers she could fit in a dryer. You might think she is conscious of the environment if it wasn't for her fridge, fridge freezer and another freezer. We're getting there!!
Your garage is full of !!!, well done on that very warm run, I advise everyone to do their running as soon as it gets daylight, the heatwave is to last all week.
A cheeky 3K sounds good to me Rennur, during the cold winter months or if it's very hot I run a cheeky 3K just to keep the old legs exercised, I intend to run another 8K this Wednesday, it looks as if it will be a very early start for me as the day is going to get hot by the afternoon, so 6.30 am will be the start of that run.
It looks as if Tooting Common is the only parkrun not running this weekend in South London, so I may have to go to Clapham - it will be odd going on public transport for a run!
I go by bus to all my official parkruns but just walk to where I start my (not) parkrun, as long as the (not) parkruns continue I'll probably keep to them until Vitality thinks that (not) parkruns don't need to continue, I notice that in N. Ireland the official parkruns have now restarted but there are still doing the (not) parkruns as well.
