Missed post-run stretches!

Did my second 6km run of the week at 06:15. It was showing as -2° and it felt cold. When I got back, I got distracted checking emails and dealing with something with the result that now, at 7:50, I’ve realised I’ve missed doing my post-run exercises. I’m all cooled down now so am a bit anxious of doing stretched now in case I do some damage.

Perhaps a hot shower and then the exercises whilst muscles are warm would be ok?

Well done you... take that shower and massage the legs, ( gently ), to get everything flowing. I think many folk may use that technique anyway... By the time I get in sometimes from runs, I have cooled down a fair bit and I use the shower as part of the routine to get the muscles sorted..

Gently as you go and treat those muscles and you, to some TLC x

Thank you for the reply and helpful advice; especially the TLC bit😀

Don’t worry about it. I often because of one thing or another forget to do my post run stretches. It’s fine. Better to do them of course, but if you forget it does no harm.

Thanks for the reassurance!

If you start aching later on do some gentle stretches to ease your muscles and/or foam roll. If you feel fine you can just relax.

Thanks for the reply, Yesletsgo. So far feeling fine. Somewhat relieved that I got my run in this morning before the snow!

I stretched today but often don't, I always have a hot bath though after a run and stretch a bit as I dry

Thanks for the reply. Although we have a bath, I haven’t had one in thirty years! Always shower. But have given my calves, thighs and hamstrings a good, gentle massage.
