Cool down run v getting cold.

I have carried on with a warm up walk and cool down walk in my runs after finishing C25K. Today was raining and when I finished my run and walked, by the time I got home I was really cold. Do I keep the walk or not?

Yes. It should be brisk!

Have you a hooded rain jacket or jacket and cap. You get chills when you stop running, hence cool down walk done briskly. if you tie the jacket round your waist while you run you pop it back on to walk home

I don't like running in a jacket and had a cap on. I was brisk but am a cold bod. I've never been warm since I lost all my weight lol Will have to grin and bear it.

Don’t run in the jacket. Tie it round your waist and put it on afterwards.

Those lightweight jobs are fine material so are soft and tie easily. You won’t know it’s there

It’s really cold / icy early morning and evening now in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I know it’s advised to wear ‘wicking ‘ fabric next to the skin but I wear thermals in winter... a well known high street store has them P...... very reasonable! Works for me.

I have been wondering about this too. My warm up and cool down are both up pretty steep hills so it hasn't been a problem yet

Thought about cooling down on the stationery bike when I get home???

I hadn't thought of that. That's a good option for me.

Yes it's a pain during winter. I tend to keep my cool down walks shorter than during summer to avoid getting cold. And as many have said, keep it brisk, put a jacket on, or if you have rolled up your sleeves during the run then roll them down the moment you stop rather than when you start to get cold.

My cool down walks at the moment consist getting dressed again! Gloves, woolly hat, neck buff and zip right up to the chin. I'm a cold bod too, so cold I've never had to take the jacket off to run when it's cold. A jacket with pockets big enough for gloves and hat is essential.

I carry a buff so I can put it on my head while I walk home.
