Hi Runners!
Doesn’t time fly when you’ve not had a run? I have to admit I’ve been put off by the rain! I’ve got into my kit more times than Mr Ben in his changing room and just not been able to get out the door! 🥴 Searching deep into the psyche for making it an adventure, but the voice in my head said “Naaah, it’s a soaking you’re gonna get love”!.....”maybe later?”! But later never came of course!
But this morning after a great sleep, I woke up with the energy I needed and the kit was on. I was bouncing and I could see that run so clearly. I toyed with staying local or did it call for a big park? Local tends to mean a short run and that would do actually, but I thought at least 30 minutes would be nice. I didn’t realise it had already been 10 days mind. 😳
So, a drive to Lydiard Park and it’s nice and quiet. Headphones on 🎧 and walking for a warm up. No idea if it’s 5 minutes, but I know I’ll feel the urge when it’s time to press start and run. That’s exactly what I did.
After 30 minutes I was close to 5k so I carried on. I felt my pace was very good throughout! And low and behold, I achieve my fastest mile and my fastest 5k according to my app! I think Parkrun might be slightly faster but 34 minutes is ok by me! I’ll have it!! 💥 💥!!
I won’t say I’m back on track 🤷🏽♀️, but I’m still going out there and I’m running. I’m doing the best that I can and that feels great👌🏽!!
