Another 10k ✅

Second time of writing this. I don’t know what I do but I am forever losing my text. I even “selected all” just in case but forgot to copy!!!

Anyway, after my disastrous 2k run with no inhalers the other day I decided this would be different. So inhalers done ✅, nasal spray and antihistamine ✅ , well hydrated ✅ , good nights sleep ..... well...., anyway off I went.

As my usually starting point is blocked, due to work on the Swing bridge, I dithered about where to start this morning but ended up going across a different bridge and along the side of the River Yeo, before joining the Tarka Trail via the track that runs behind the football ground. As this is full of huge potholes and loose stones I took it slowly- as I don’t want a repeat of last summers incident!! No way José!!!

And after this off I went along the Track beside the River Taw. As it is a tidal river due to flowing into the estuary the water was really low this morning so there were different views as I ran and I soon settled into a steady pace. There were lots of other runners and several cyclists and even 2 Marines, from the local base, who had stopped mid-run and were taking it in turns to do burpees and press-ups and encourage each other. So I admired the view and carried on past, resisting the impulse to join in. It was a very fleeting impulse I hasten to add, although I’d have loved to have seen their faces if a red-faced geriatric woman HAD stopped and joined in!!!

I ran on past where the baby Pygmy goats usually are playing but this morning they were all inside ( although I could smell them quite strongly 🤢) and there were just a few chickens wandering around instead. And then I realised that I had just passed 4k and was still feeling pretty good so decided to carry on to 5k and then turn around and make it a 10k run. Which I did and I thought I’d slowed down considerably on the way back but on looking at Garmin, after my shower, I found I’d been pretty consistent really so no new PBs but a nice little 10k under my belt. 😁. And back home in time to shower and look comparatively normal by the time my shopping was delivered.

I'm sure the marines would have loved you to join them! You would have had a great workout 😤 Photos would be nice too 😉

Well done on the run, nice consistent pacing there. And lovely photos too.

When I write my usually lengthy posts I always type them in notes and then copy and paste into a new post. That way if the post crashes you still have a copy of the original.

You had me wondering if "admiring the view" was the marines or the landscape ☺

I was hoping to admire the view too by seeing a photo - you will need to do that run again please 🤣 📷

I had that problem with losing text on the app and it’s so infuriating. I now create in notes and then copy it into HealthUnlocked so I’ve still got an original to fall back on. (Edit: oops IP has already said that)

A lovely run and a brilliant incentive to keep going when young marines are training nearby. How they do it in full combats, boots and bergens, I do not know. There’s usually a group taking part in the Great South run.

A great 10k , well done 👍
