I crossed the bridge again. Not done it properly in a long time. I've ran a few 10K's with my doggie along a river track recently. But that included a break or two or three whilst throwing sticks into the River for my Cocker Spaniel to retrieve. She adores swimming. But this morning I left Ruby at home and set off to run without stopping. I put on a podcast and off I went. It felt great, I held a nice comfortable 6:30 min/km pace and managed to run 11K without stopping in a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes. It's been a great weekend of running. I'm getting back bit by bit. Just posting to say I've crossed our lovely 10K Bridge again. Feels great doesn't it?

Congratulations on completing that 11K in a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes, that's about the time I run 10K, it's great running those +5K distances without having to stop or having to walk, I am sure you will be able to run a 10K in around a hour or less as well as your dream of getting a sub 25 minute 5K at parkrun. ✔️✔️
Thanks Al, yes that would be my plan. As I get fitter and faster I hope to feel comfortable with a 6 min/km easy pace which would be a 1 hour 10K. It's going to take time.
Wow-congratulations!! You’re on a roll at the moment. Such a brilliant feeling and well deserved after all the work you’ve put in. So nice to see it paying off!
Ah thank you. It is 5 months in the making. I have lost 25 lbs in weight which has really helped. I have been steadily building up my running, little bits at a time. I am now at a point where I can increase my effort and increase my running. 10 minutes has come off my parkrun time in 5 months which is a steady improvement so as to prevent injury and keep going. Oh actually now that I think of it I did fall in December and got injured badly pulling muscles and badly bruising ribs. It was agony for 6 weeks. But I healed up well, thankfully.
Awesome! Well done! I’m looking forward to catching up with your 10k again later next month! You might be far beyond this by then! Looking forward to it, again!
Well done Damien, your running is really on the ups at the moment isn’t it? So lovely to hear after all your hard work. Looking forward to seeing where it takes you! (Over to see us hopefully too!) 😀
I never really registered this, after last week's Monsal trail 10K with our friend , Bluebirdrunner , it was all about the run, and all about the day and the friends, but you are so right!
Your run sounds to have been a very satisfying one and a dry one for Ruby! Great time too...
On the way again and thank you for reminding me of the feeling of , crossing that 10K bridge !
Ruby is missing out a little. She is amazing off the lead, but if I’m running on the road I need to have her on the lead. I’ll take her on off road trail runs from now on.
This is brilliant damienair and there are so many of us that have been smiling at your progress. You ARE on the way back. You've worked hard, kept patient and been consistent. Here's to many more runs and progress to come 👏👏👏👏
