First run with a running club (well, in last 20 years anyway)

I have finally plucked up the courage to go run with a local running club. It was dry when I left the house but persisting down with rain by the time I got to the club, only a couple of miles away. There were moments when my inner chatter was finding ways to scupper my plans, but I stood my ground and the rain was great at keeping me cool.

After reading posts on here I even did an easy 12 minutes warm up on my rowing machine (right up to the last moment before leaving the house), just so I was well warmed up to avoid the toxic whatever it is 😂. I always struggle in the first 10 mins.

The warm up really seemed to help and I am beyond pleased, and shocked, to say that I REALLY enjoyed my 5k easy tempo run 😲 and I really felt like a real runner. I wasn’t the slowest in the mixed ability group and the front runners were great looping round to the back, which meant there were a few times when, for a few short seconds, I was at the front of the pack 🤪. How fantastically motivating was that 👍🏼😃💖💕?

The club appears to be well run and has varied sessions, so I can easily incorporate it into JuJu’s magic 10 starting next week.

Whoop whoop whoop 🏃‍♀️🤸🏻‍♂️🏃‍♀️🤸🏻‍♂️

Glad that you are enjoying your running club Dottie D, nice to meet people and I am sure you liked being the leader for a short while.

Good for you! It takes some guts to join a club. I know when I first went along I was terrified that they’d all be amazing runners and I’d be holding everyone up. Well they are amazing runners, but then so am I and so are you! What is great is that there’s always a group to run with and it’s so motivating to go with other people at times. I’m loving my running club, they’re really helping me along. 🏃‍♀️😊
