Some of you might remember That Park Run that tried to kill me. There is a local running group of people who regularly do it. I believe they all look like mountain goats or something.
Anyway, and for the less extreme runners, they have recently formed a B group. I had my first run with them yesterday. A little 4K loop from a pub and back with a drink in the beer garden after. With massive hills! π€¦ββοΈ
βLow and slowβ is my mantra.
Really strange running with others - the Park Run is the only time I have before - but they were a great bunch and very welcoming.
Today I feel like a punchbag - those hills really work different muscles (or the same muscles differently). Roll on next week!
You can see me hiding in the back...and, yes, the one taking the shot was another young woman!

Excellent work Jay! I absolutely love my running group. Was getting bored on my own. Also itβs massively improved my pace in only a couple of weeks. Enjoy!
Get you! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Glad the running group was so welcoming, and that you enjoyed the run - good going tackling those hills! One day you'll go back to That parkrun and show it who's boss π
Hang on, let me get this right, they are all women? Kerching Jay!
Like you Iβve only done running with others as part of a parkrun (not counting the week I tried to run with a friend - W6R3 what was I thinking?!!). That didnβt end well - in fact it didnβt start well! Sent her on her speedy way about 5 min in. Did I mention the fact it was her first run after a heart scare?! Oh and Iβve done 3 with the LGO (little ginger one aged 9). Apart from that π€£ Iβve only run alone but itβs beginning to feel boring. Think Iβll follow your lead and investigate my local group. Hope you donβt suffer too much tomorrow.
Fantastic! That looks like an amazing place to run. I have only run with my daughter and it was a disaster. I think Iβll try to get a parkrun under my belt in September.
Well done Jay - sounds like you had a good time. So just remind us again ......... what was it that drew you to a running group made up of women who were going to finish the run at a pub???
I didnβt know it was only going to be women running but, actually, Iβve always preferred female company.
Sadly Iβm old enough to be most of their dads and Iβm strictly interested in running and getting to know more people.
Hopefully theyβll do some more social events over winter and give me an excuse to be out with a group. Perhaps that will help me be out somewhere at the perfect time to meet Ms Right.
I see you, lurking at the back π. Iβve often thought about joining a group but feel I would hold them back. Iβm glad yours were so welcoming. But ohh more hills! π±π
Me too. They both say they're friendly and I'm sure they are but lots of competitive racing too. (And our PR seems to be) Have to psych myself up to join one but am thinking it will keep me safely running through the winter π
