10K trail run!

I’ve just completed a 10K trail run this morning as part of training for some official 10K races I have coming up. Blimey, have to say the toughest run I’ve done to date - a very hilly 780ft elevation has put 68 flights of stairs on my Fitbit. Loved it though!! I still can’t quite believe it’s me running sometimes, today I’ve run non stop for an hour and a quarter, feel like I’m finally sorting my breathing as well!

I’m going to get gait analysis done this week as the last few trail runs I’ve done I’ve had a painful right knee, especially when I’m coming down hills.

That’s a great 10km run. Downhill is very hard on the knees. Good idea to go for a gait analysis and make sure you have good shoes. Good luck with your racing goals👍

Trails rock 💕 and can be gentler on the body with the softer terrain but the hills definitely can be tougher on the knees. A gait analysis is a great idea and tweaking your downhill running form. There is a balance between letting gravity take over (and getting out of control) and leaning back too much putting the brakes on which is tougher on the knees. I’ve still got a lot of work to do on my downhill running form but am trying to focus on a shorter quicker turnover with a lighter footfall and keeping my body a bit more perpendicular to the trail.
