Well I don’t know where THAT came from. I talked myself out of running yesterday morning for one reason or another and before I had chance to today, I just got out and into my running gear. I nearly wavered when I realised my watch only had one bar of battery but then just plugged it in for a quick charge while I drank my SIS drink and did inhalers etc and then off I went.
I’d checked the weather last night and it said it would be dry between 7 and 9– it lied but it was just a gentle mizzle and quite refreshing really. I remembered that the Swing Bridge is having work done on it so took a slightly different route to get to the Tarka Trail this morning. It involves a fair bit of concentration as it cuts down a side track which isn’t tarmacced and is full of potholes and loose stones. I didn’t want a repeat of last years ankle incident!!!
And then off I went ... there were a lot of Marines jogging up and down the track between Barnstaple and Chivenor this morning so I didn’t notice much of the other wildlife except for a tiny bunny, which I nearly stepped on at the edge of the grass verge on my way back, before it hopped away in search of mum.
Nothing else very eventful on my run except when I got to 5k and realised I was slower and wouldnt beat my 5 or 10k PB I decided to go a bit further instead and ran on to 6k before turning ( in my early morning stupor I thought that would make it 11k instead of 10k) and only realised when I was nearly home that it would be 12k.
No records but longest run yet. 😁🎉
