It's the third week of the May Quest - please feel free to join
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!
Wishing you a wonderful week of running! 💥

This week is all about Sunday, my HM, five days worth of bagels are coming tomorrow. I religiously eat a whole packet of New York bagels (45g of carb a bagel) before a half marathon. Ending with the final one on the morning. I have toasted bagel with bovril and take an oat and banana smoothie for the train on race day before I leave the house at 6:15 am. I’m not the best at eating as soon as I get up so I have found this works for me. 😀.
I’ve ticked off target 1 of 3 for the month, 1.5k on the dreadmill at 13 kph on Thursday ✅. As part of a run that was supposed to be 5k, but got aborted at 4.3 when my left calf twinged at me 🙄. So haven’t run since, but will probably have a go at the long slow 14k target later in the week.
Wise to pull up with a tweak, good luck for your long run. Happy running. Rfc x
This is my 9km week in preparation for my 10km 'castle' race on Sunday 26th. I plan to do it on Wednesday which will give me 10 days to recover afterwards. My knee and ankle are a bit 'niggly' so I'm doing lots of stretching and strengthening.
I did a 5km walk at dawn (4am) on Saturday with my elderly parents. It was for a suicide prevention charity and it was quite special. I held my mum's hand all the way through so that she wouldn't get lost or crushed. That was really sweet. My speedy Dad zoomed off into the sunrise...
What a lovely sounding walk, so special. I love a walk that makes a memory. Good luck for you long run, look after that knee and ankle. Happy running. Rfc x
I think I have sciatica so I’m going to see a physio. I’m not sure if I’ll go Before or after my long run. I really want to do the 10km castle run. I don’t want to exacerbate the problems 😲
I ran a test 5km and went to the physio last night who did a lot of deep tissue work. Ow! I could feel muscles releasing ! I ran 9km today - Yay! and I'll know tomorrow if i can walk or not
Love that you did that 4am charity walk with your parents. Kudos to your lovely mum, and a special time shared by you both.😊 xxx Dads do feel the need to zoom off😀
Hope your niggles all settle with that extra stretching.
After worrying I wouldn’t have an opportunity to put in a greater than 10k run before London Vitality 10k in 2 week’s time, I realised I had an opportunity today, and have another next Monday. So I duly completed 11k of running this morning, and will probably try to do 12k next week, if I have recovered from my travels. Lovely morning for running too, sun glittering on the sea, our local swifts back home for their breeding season and sending me on my way for my run this morning.
Well I didn’t get a parkrun PB this week, but I did get a PB for the last 500m sprint.
This is because I jokingly suggested that the man who usually runs his wife in, ran me in instead. I had no option but to follow him - wow! Poor man then returned to his wife to run her in. And he’d got a PB himself before all that!
I am planning a nice slow 10k this week - I might even get the shorts out again for the first time this year. Maybe a JogRunSprint if I can fit it in.
