Hi there: I know a lot of you use the NRC app and I thought I’d give it a go. I don’t really want to use it to track my runs, although I guess it might be necessary for the distance-based podcasts. I don’t have Spotify Premium so couldn’t access the music and it wouldn’t work with the BBC sounds app which is my go-to. I tried out the ‘just another run’ 35mins guides run yesterday and I wasn’t sure if there was a warm up walk included or not, and once it was playing it was counting down only 12mins? I turned it off after less than 2 mins as I found coach Bennett really annoying (sorry, I know people love him!).
I really want to try again as I’ve heard such good things about the guided runs: are there any top tips from VRB’s here who use the app? Have I missed something/not set it up right or should I try a different guided run to start with?
Thanks folks 👍

I also found Coach Bennett really annoying the first time, I’m actually starting to quite like him now! The runs don’t include a warm-up, so you need to do that first, then start it when you are ready to start actually running. I don’t look at the data it tracks to be honest because I prefer Strava for that, but I just let it run so that I can listen to the chat. I use Spotify, but I’ve found that the volume levels don’t tend to balance very well, and I can’t hear the talking properly over the music.
Try a different one, “Just go with Mo” is a nice one to start with.
I use the podcast (Apple) app with NRC without issue... I don’t get on with BBC sounds so I don’t know about those two together... in theory it will fade in and out whatever is playing.
Coach Bennett is pretty smart, but he has a strange way of looking at things, and he’s mr 100% positivity, which isn’t for everyone. There’s other coaches on there... maybe try Just Go With Mo, and have Sir Mo guide you through 30 minutes.
Warm ups are not included in the short, long, running with headspace or distance based runs... and the others assume you’re an established runner and a slow jog is your warmup. Probably better to stick to brisk walking for the next few months.
