I've not posted in a long while but I'm pleased to say that I've been running for 6 months! Although I had to take a little break post surgery, I got back on it about 4 weeks ago and I've seen masses of progress since. I'm now able to run for 60 minutes and Ive reached 6k! I'm not the fastest by no means, I concentrate on distance more than speed and it works for me. This week I've ran two 6ks in 54 minutes and I'm pretty happy with it. Ideally, I'd like to lower that time but in due course.
Hayfever makes it hard for me to run outdoors so I mostly go to the gym now and use the treadmill, do some weights and go for a swim. The running has appeared to help me in multiple ways; firstly, I'm rarely taking my asthma inhaler now unless hayfever is giving me a bad day! Im also able to lift 25kg in weights whilst squatting, whereas 4 weeks ago I couldn't lift any. My body has changed and my outlook on life has improved. I missed running more than I thought and Im back to looking forward to my runs again.
It's remarkable how far I've come from uncomfortably running for 1 minute to 60 minutes! Tomorrow's run is hopefully a 7k. I have a 10k race in 4 weeks that I'm inching to do!
