The FOMO is real 😫😫😫

This is my first Saturday morning at home for months. I’m so sad. 😒 All the parkruns all over the country are going ahead and I’m not taking part. 😫😫

Three reasons, but 2 could have been overcome:

1. Bit fuzzy headed due to husband’s birthday meal out last night (who cares, could have still run).

2. Storm Hannah buffeting us with 45mph winds (who cares, I’d have enjoyed the challenge of the headwind running up the hill).

3. Husband’s brand new 2 month old electric car has fritzed for a 3rd time (apparently they exchange it for a new one after 4 times - I think 3 times is more than adequate personally 😑). Anyway, he’s taken mine and that confirmed I wouldn’t be running today. 😫😫

Sorry for the self indulgent sob story, but this has made me realise how much I love running and especially parkrun. ❀️

I’ll go out tomorrow, then next Sunday is the Bristol 10k! Sleepless nights approaching I think!

Happy running this weekend everyone, and yay for anyone running the London Marathon! β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€οΈ

Aww. That sucks. But you'll REALLY enjoy your run tomorrow. And the next parkrun will be extra special too πŸ˜€

Yes, tomorrow will feel really special. I’ll fire up the radio iplayer (assuming it’s on) on the radio and get inspired by the London Marathon! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I’m not running this morning either - in the middle of the Peak District in the camper (although could’ve got to one if I’d tried!) but the rain is absolutely lashing down and it’s blowing a gale πŸ’¨πŸ’¦ Going on a cave tour to keep dry. Hard to believe we were barbecuing this time last week!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

Ooo enjoy your cave tour Sandie. Probably the best place to be during a storm. πŸ’¨ πŸ’¦

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

It might not be that dry in the cave, the rain percolates through, and it will be cold (caves hold the average temperature of the area), so warm waterproof layers required. Having said that the Peak District show caves are amazing so you'll no doubt enjoy yourselves πŸ‘

We spend quite a bit of time in the Peak District as my husband grew up in Andy stepdaughter lives in Chesterfield. Our granddaughters are now at the age when they are starting to appreciate their surroundings (8 and 5) so doing more trips. Off to Treak Cliff, as it has a visitor centre and that all important cafeπŸ˜ƒ

Lovely calcite formations there if I recall correctly. Warm drink in the cafe afterwards. Perfect! Have a lovely day.

Firstly, happy birthday to Mr Cheekychipmunks, I hope you and your husband had a lovely day for his birthday, no harm on missing one parkrun, makes you appreciate how much you love them.

I just wonder on how many runners in tomorrow's LM began with C25K. Would you ever consider running in the London Marathon?

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Thanks for the birthday wishes Al, yes we had a lovely meal out, even though my husband isn’t a birthday celebrator as a rule. We forced him out! πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚

Yes wouldn’t it be fascinating to find out how many LM runners started the way we all did. πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ And no chance Al! There aren’t enough hours in the day for me to train for, let alone run, a marathon! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

That's sad. Personally I'm sitting in front of the fire hiding from the rain. You're an all weather runner then! Good on you πŸ˜€

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to BaddieThePirate

Yes I would have gone out in the rain no problem. The wind isn’t my favourite, but I’ve just come to the realisation that I’d rather do parkrun in the wind than miss it.

But a fire does sound appealing I must say! πŸ”₯

Ahhh nooo

But tommoros run will be fabulous!! Happy birthday to Mr C.

I have ran with a bit of a hangover before....tis doable... sometimes helps... Sometimes not the bestπŸ˜±πŸ˜€

Have a good weekend

Haha I know Deals, hangovers can go one of two ways after a run! Funnily enough I ran my parkrun PB of sub 35 minutes after several G&Ts a few weeks ago ..... I certainly didn’t expect that! 🍸

Sympathy, both for your run and for his car.

Next week you will ace it! Every blessing for the 10K next Sunday.

Thank you TOF! I must say that selfishly I was mostly concerned about me missing my run than his car! That’s bad isn’t it? πŸ˜…

Thanks over61. Hopefully the wind will have dropped so it’ll be an enjoyable one. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I don’t know what fritzed actually means. We use it as a polite way of saying something electrical has broken! πŸ˜…

Oh that is a shame. Cars can be an a*se can’t they!

We went to park run to cheer on husband this morning but I’m afraid the storm beat the cheer squad and we ended up sat in the car. 🌧

It was a double shame I’ve just remembered, as Ashton Court parkrun was celebrating its 8th birthday and I just saw the post on FB and realised I’d missed that landmark run with them. Booo!

And yes, cars are a right PITA!

Oh cheeky sorry to hear that, although it sounds like a fabulous celebration yesterday. Plus you'll be out again very soon..

This is role reversal, I have a tendency to whine that I can only parkrun about once a month due to working weekends and social commitments. Today was my 18th parkrun and not much was going to stop me, although storm Hannah certainly tried! It's an open spot anyway and running against the wind half way really sapped my energy so I was very pleased to complete it in a second off my PB!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

3 strikes and your out. I shouldn’t worry too much about today’s PR seems like your evening more than made up for it, and the wind was dreadful. so now you can concentrate fully on next Sunday β€˜s 10k. All the very best and enjoy it πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Have you got the shakes Cheeky? You are so going to make up for it next week though.

We ran away from the coastline to Portsmouth Lakeside this morning. The lovely JonathanP was a marshal so we got to see him 4 times en route. Unbeknown to us It was their 3rd birthday so some people were dressed as pirates and princesses. When I saw the Jolly Roger I thought BaddieThePirate was visiting. It was sunny but windy, but at least not 2.5k all at once like Southsea. A Lakeside PB for UpTheStanley .

Woo well done UpTheStanley ! And to both of you for braving the wind. πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨ Kudos to all those runners dressed up - never again after my onesie run! πŸ˜…

I’ve recovered from this morning’s disappointment now (just) and I’m so looking forward to next weekend, made even more fun by you guys coming. I’ll be taking it easy this week and hopefully storing up energy for my first ever race! πŸ¦‹ πŸ¦‹

Thanks Bridget! I agree about the car. It’s so annoying. πŸ‘Ž

You’re so right about tomorrow’s weather being better for a run. It’ll need to be a lunchtime one though, I’ve just discovered, as hubby needs my car again first thing to go rowing. Will need only a tiny breakfast / must remember! πŸ˜….

Oh no cheeky! It was really horrible out there today, you really wouldn’t want to! Can you do a Freedom Run at Ashton Court tomorrow to make up for parkrun today?

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to TailChaser

Hi TC, yes I suppose if I had to miss a day, yesterday’s weather made it the best one!

I did run a 5k earlier today, but not at Ashton Court. It’s busy with walkers on a Sunday, and apart from parkrun where we’re all in the same boat, I like to be alone running up the long hill! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Oh Cheeky. That’s rubbish you missed you park-run but think how great your next one will be πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹. Hope Mr Cheeky had a great birthday . Car sounds a bit of a nightmare too.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Wimborne

I was miffed Wimborne, but the weather was pretty vile so I made up for it by doing a pleasant 5k trail run this morning. But I forgot my Garmin and trail shoes, so pansied around on the flatter bits and used MMR like old times! It was fun! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Car’s off to the garage tomorrow. My husband’s humour is waning, so I wouldn’t fancy being the one having to deal with him! He did enjoy his birthday thanks! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸ˜€
