These little cuties were whizzing around on the canal and cheered me up no end. After a runless week, I knew I wasn't up to parkrun, but I did manage to take myself out and run the 3.5k short run, with an attempt at intervals. It wasn't pretty, but it set me up for a 5k run today. I got out before waitrose opened which meant there was room in their carpark!π 3k up the canal, and 2k back. Even managed a little sprint finish after the 5k buzzer went! Into waitrose in all my running finery, and bought bacon eggs and orange juice. (Other shops are available) Carpark was now rammed! Home feeling smug, showered, scoffed my brekkie π·.
Sorry the ducklings are so blurry, but they wouldn't keep still!
No records broken, but you know what, 5k holds no fears for me any more, so that's got to mean something π
Happy running, peeps!

Nice photo of the little cuties, have no fear, 5K is not scary and holds no fears, I just wonder why you call yourself "Grumpyoldgirl" you seem a cheerfuloldgirl. π
That's the nicest thing anyone's said to me all day, thank you Al! π I suppose I was quite grumpy when I first started couch to 5k, and I still have my moments when I have to retire to the IC, but I've definitely cheered up π the name has stuck though.
πππSadly not so young any more, nobody more surprised than me to find that I'm a runner π I'll definitely take it easy, these creaky bones have to be treated carefully. Funnily enough though, I often find that little aches and pains disappear when I run. It seems to iron out some of the kinks π
You will be absolutely fine π once you know you are nearly at the end you know you will definitely get there even if it means you crawl the last k ππ which you wonβt have to! You can then spend the rest of the day with a little smile of pride on your face π I will be looking out for your post! Good luck... but you donβt need luck you will smash it ππ»
Iβm a fan of Henning Wehn... on one of his tours he examined the difference between British and Australian swimming pools... he said many in Australia were focused on shaving a few thousandths of a second off their PB... conveniently forgetting that they were still slower than any fish. Get those cuties on dry land and youβll outrun them easily.
Waitrose carparks are very steep too... they must be for people to need range rovers just to shop π. I miss Waitrose... so Iβm very jealous of the start and finish of your run.
Great run... and the fact that 5k is now not a fear but just a part of your life is cool. What next?
ππ when I got back to my car, one of those very vehicles had parked nice and close to my (very small) car. Luckily not the drivers side or I might not have felt so smug π and next is the long run of JuJu's magic 10 in theory! Fingers crossed!
Love your post & and the sneaky Waitrose breakfast! I have the same issues with large cars in our Waitrose and once got physically stuck when heavily pregnant trying to get out of my car due to the monster next to me in literally the only space left!
π± crikey slinky, that must have been interesting! I was quietly amused watching a very nice large car take about 97 attempts to get into a single small space very close to the entrance doors, ignoring the the row of three empty spaces across the way π€£π€£ I loved my breakfast, it was a rare treat.
