Recovery run 4 - so far so good!

I did this run on Saturday morning, but my weekend has been manic since then, so apologies. My usual quiet parking spot near the canal was rammed with cars, presumably anglers, so I parked in waitrose (cheeky) which is also near the canal. I felt pretty good right from the start, breathing ok, no niggles, but decided from the off that I would go no further than 4.25km as I know I'm still not in condition. So off I went running on the canal path upstream, this is very important because it means that when I reach the turnaround point it all feels imperceptibly easier😁 My watch buzzed for the first km, and I realised I'd run it at a (for me) blistering pace of 6.24. Woah girl, slow down!!! Carried on until I'd reached my halfway point, only stopping to run on the spot to let cyclists and other runners past when the path narrowed. The second km was much more of a struggle, despite slowing down. Much easier on the return, my speed settled somewhere around 7m/km, and what a joy to be able to breathe easy and take in the scenery. I stopped at 4.25k and was glad to, because oops I'd speeded up again 😯 Cool down walk back to the car, luckily didn't see anyone I know because I was tomato coloured 😂 I think it may be time for a 5k this week. Parkrun perhaps? Well see 😊

Sounds like a good run, well done! What is your local Parkrun like?

It's nice and friendly, usually about 180 taking part, with a couple of short steep uphills and corresponding downhills. But, there are a few more not far away that are flatter. Haven't made my mind up yet, it might be a very last minute decision!

That's great that you have several to choose from. Uphills are soooo good for you but the lure of a nice flat course is strong...

Great to hear that you are well and truly on the comeback trail. My turn tomorrow; hope my Achilles behaves. Guess what..I am starting with a slow 3.5k. At least I follow my own advice😊😊
