So my training these last few weeks has been hit and miss. Actually more miss than hit.
Weeks, months even, ago I had entered the Resolution Run and I figured I would enter the 10K as it would give me something to train for. Yup, optimistic I know. Anyway Sunday dawned and Resolution Run time it was. Totally unprepared.
Thankfully I have some amazing friends, Equi-geek on here being one of them, and I did it. I ran 10K, zero walk breaks 💪💪 I was slow (an hour 20) but I don’t care.
This time last year I was finding 3 minutes a struggle and I genuinely thought I may never make it to 5K. I remember seeing Equi starting her couch to 5K and telling her it gets easier....then realising I didn’t actually believe that. It took until August for me to run 5K.
I still really struggle with the mental side of it. I would never have got round the 10K without my mates dragging me along mentally the whole way. But it’s getting easier. For every new thing I do - there is another one suddenly I realise I can do by myself without my chimp getting in the way!
So to anyone out there having doubts. You can. You will. If you need to take the time, take it. Don’t berate yourself for your training not being perfect. You’ll get there. And it will hurt, but feel amazing all at the same time 😂😂
Well done to you 'DressageRider33' on running your first 10K, congratulations. In the same way as in C25K if you wish to see the word "Graduate10" next to your username, leave a message on the April Graduate10 Healthunlocked Homepage and tell the administrators that you have ran a 10K.
Woohoo DR! That’s awesome, massive well done to you! 👏👏👏👏 What a long way you’ve come. I remember you and Equi when I started C25K last summer. I also used to own and work with horses! 🐎
Isn’t this forum great? I feel it makes us accountable, and it sounds like your real and VRBs helped you during your 10k! I’ll be drawing on their vibes during my upcoming race too! Brilliant stuff - be proud! ❤️
Oh you minx! I believed you when you said it got easier 🤣🤣 You looked great on Sunday (I was watching your body language from after the grass section on the second lap all the way uphill to the top of the course where I caught up) and Emma was doing a fantastic job, so I had no concerns about you making the distance 🥳🎉 Enjoy your 10K badge!!! 🤗
🤣🤣 I meant it when I said it. Then just sat back and went ‘but does it really?!’ 🙈🙈
Emma’s great at keeping me going, she did refrain from any mention of a sprint finish at the end which I was very proud of her for. I think she got the ‘dying here’ vibes 😂😂😂
Congratulations that’s a wonderful achievement. Your right we all take different routes but we can and will achieve more than we could have imagined. Well done. What next I wonder?😉🏃🏻♀️
