Swelling on lower left leg

Hello all, I had some muscle pull pain last week which I ignored and went to gym and did strenuous exercise like box jumps etc which caused swelling in my left lower leg. I gave it rest for a day and went running 10k. Now it has been 4 days I am not doing any exercise or run, but swelling is not going away and small walk is an effort too. My 10k run is scheduled in a week and am not sure how to heal this before the event.

Also I am worried if this could be permanent. Anyone experienced anything like this? Any suggestions? Should I go see doctor?

Sorry about the swelling on your leg Priyanka 03, perhaps you should not have ran that 10K so soon after the box jumps, advisable to go and see your doctor, doubtful regarding that other 10K next week, you will have to rest your leg for at least a week, then gradually get back to slow short distance runs.

GP... don't run... just get it checked out...if you cannot get an appointment..it might be worth getting checked out at your local hospital walk in centre ?

Two options:

A) Do what l did. The injury that will follow will sideline you for months

B) Do what normal people do. See a specialist, a physio (ideally) and focus on their advice. They will fix you. I would forget about the race until after all is well and dandy otherwise you may aggravate the mother of injuries.

Your call.

Thanks everyone. I will take appointment with doctor on Monday. And wouldn't run next week event if I am not up to it completely.

I just hope it heals permanently. Never thought it could happen to me. I have always been careful while running. Don't even remember when my foot got injured at first place. It is a lesson though.

Hello everyone, my ankle is perfectly healed now. I finished my 10k run in 62 minutes without any after effects. Thanks for suggestions and support
