Some of you may remember I failed to run 10K on the 3rd January 2020, this morning I made up for that by running my 45th 10K on the 10th day of Christmas, my run went very well compared to 4, years ago when I only managed 5K in around 45 minutes, this morning I set my metromone app at 167 cadence which is low and ran 10K in a time of exactly 1:17:00, the weather was cloudy but dry, I wish you all a happy running New Year ✔️ 🏃🏾🏃🏾
10K on 10th day of Christmas : Some of you may... - Bridge to 10K
10K on 10th day of Christmas
Fantastic, very well done on that 10k on the 10th day of Christmas Al! And a happy running New Year to you too 😀🏃♂️🎊
Congratulations Al for great achievement and fab time 👏👏👍🏃♂️. And a Happy New Year to you too Al.🥰x
Well done Al, 10k on the 10th day of Christmas is a great way to celebrate, and what a brilliant time too
Thanks Sue, I enjoyed my run this morning, Happy New Year✔️👍
Go Al ! Huge well done to you!!!! xxx
Yes Floss, I remember that run exactly 4 years ago which I couldn't complete and calling it "failed"not supposed to use that word but it was of all the runs I have run the only one that I had planned not to complete, this mornings run went well with no problems whatsoever. 😊 🏃♂️✔️✅👍
So well done xxx My first 10K was 1 hrs 17 !!!!Fastest I've ever done, is 1hr 5...!.Don't think that'll get done again...not for a while anyway xxx
Isn't that a coincidence Floss, 1 hour 17, the time I ran today which was my 45th 10K, my 44th 10K which was my first 10K race, the Cumbernauld 10K last September was ran in a time of 1:09:22, my PB 10K time was ran in November 2021 in a time of 1:08:40, the average being around 1:12:30.
A whole load of us ran our first 10Ks in the same week...and most of us did it in 1hr.17!!!A magic time...if I could reach that again before my race in April...I'd be really pleased! Xx
Brilliant 👌
Thanks Chellymoonshine, I havn't come across your name before, have you recently started C25K?
I've been around a while but haven't put much on here recently, or done much running over the Christmas period! So today I bought new trail trainers and now I'm looking for inspiration to get me out again. Your post has definitely helped! Inspirational💪☺️
I ran that 10K in my trail shoes this morning, good luck to you on getting out again, the weather forecast for the next week is to rain for a short while and by the weekend and into next week to be dryer but colder, I hope you will enjoy your runs in your new trail trainers.
🍏👏You did it!!! I love it! 10k on the 10th day of Christmas. You have an awesome track record Al & still at it making more records! Inspiring!
Thank you very much Annieapple, I enjoyed that 10K on the 10th day of Christmas this morning, the temperature was just nice at 6C with no wind, however, there were a lot of puddles I had to jump over, today Wednesday 3rd January is the 10th day of Christmas but I took down my Christmas tree and other decorations yesterday morning. 😊
🍏I did the same ☺️
Well done Al on your 10 km on the 10 th day of Xmas. Hope you have a happy new year 2024 and enjoy all your running biking and walking. 😊
Thanks Doris8, I enjoyed my 10K run today on the 10th day of Christmas, a very happy New year to you, I am sure you will enjoy your many walks and runs in 2024, I do my cycling from May to September on a Sunday, other Sundays from October to April it's like you, long walks, my running days are usually a Saturday and Wednesday mornings. 🏃🏾 🚶 🚲 ✔️✔️👍
Congratulations on your 10k on the 10th day of Christmas and in a great time too. Happy running in 2024 🏃🏻♂️
super well done Al!
Great running, Al! I’ve tried running to cadence but can’t seem to manage it. You were very disciplined on this run. Happy New Year to you and I’m sure you will continue to inspire us in 2024.
well done Al and happy new year! 👏🏼
An inspiring run Al! Well done 👍
Thanks Brian, I hope you are enjoying your running and training for a new season on the track for 2024, by the way a very happy New year
Hi Al I’m really enjoying the gym at the moment which is just as well as my ankle injury continues to prevent me from running. It’s nearly 3 months now but I have an mri on the 12th which will tell me more about what is going on and hopefully after that I can seek the right assistance to get me back on track - literally. Have a great 2024. You’ve certainly got off to a great start. 👍
That's a fantastic achievement - very well done, Al! 👏👏👏🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
You are the actual King 🤴 So lovely to read Super Al. Keep going and keep inspiring ⭐ That 50th 10k will be super special when it comes.
Fantastic Christmas running 😁 well done!
Thanks Yesletsgo ✔️👍
Just checked my time for my one and only 10k, official time was 01:19:25, but NRC, which seems to under record distance (Parkrun is always less than 5k with it) said 9.95km in 1:17:40. I was so overexcited I forgot to press start on things until I was going!!
That time of 1:19:25 is very good Yesletsgo, congratulations, it's nice to get a sub 80 minutes 10K run and you achieved that, 1:17:40 is even better, perhaps you will get a sub 75 minutes 10K soon. 😊✔️
Thank you, I hadn't twigged it was sub 80 minutes. I was very surprised at the time, wasn't even sure I'd complete it and would have been happy to do it in 90 minutes. It's amazing what being carried away will do for your performance isn't it?
Ha ha, being carried away is the name of the game especially if you run any distance faster than you thought you could, a big milestone in running is for a runner to get a sub 30 minute 5k, a sub 60 minutes 10K, a sub 2 hours 10 miles or a sub 2 and a half, half marathon, I have ran all of those runs but not sub any of those above times.
Those times are sooooo far from what I can do, even 5k in 30 minutes. A combination of age and physiology has given me a firm grasp on what's practical and achievable, so I'll pat myself on the back for sub 80 10k and sub 40 5k and be grateful
One thing that running has taught me, which I never truly appreciated before, is that it really is all about taking part rather than 'winning'. To be able to run at all at 65 is a huge gift.
Great run Al! I have a funny feeling that my first 10k was around 1.17 too…I will check. Happy New Year to you.🙂
Yep; 1:17:06…..26 December 2018.
Thanks Beachcomber66, my very first 10K was a mixture of running and walking in a time of 1:28:00, I started at exactly 9 o'clock and completed the 10K at 10:28am, my first full run 10K with no walking breaks was on the 28th August 2019 in a time of 1:13:03, I wish you a very happy 2024 of running 🏃🏾 👍
PS Beachcomber66, I notice elsewhere that you are to become an Administrator, congratulations, I notice also that you have posted 999 posts and about 6000 replies, that is also excellent ✔️✔️✔️it makes me wonder how many posts and replies I have have done since I started on those forums in September 2017, I thought at first C25K was something to do with running 25 kilometers until I realised it was for running non stop for 30 minutes from sitting on the couch.
truly inspirational AlMorr
You’ve now inspired me to aim for 10k now. I completed Ct5k last Year & I’ve been sticking to 5k the odd 6 & a random 7k. I’ve read on the forum NRC have a 10k plan now so I think now’s my time to move onwards, so thank you & well done ☺️
Wowsa!!! Huge congratulations!! Brilliant challenge!
I’m on my 10th Row of my “12 Rows of Christmas”, today! So we’re meeting with the number 10! 😃😃😃
