“A bad run is better than no run at all”

... having to try to convince myself of this just now. A truly horrible run: everything ached, feet weren’t comfortable, couldn’t get my temperature right. I was feeling awful heading back to my car when I saw another runner who had just finished. We both lamented our bad runs and she reminded me of the mantra above. So glad we stopped and chatted! Time to look ahead, not back.

Absolutely molly1973 ..you ran, good or bad, it's a run and some runs are just like that. They're pants....but are part of the process, thank goodness they're few and far between.bag the distance and the stamina and move on to your next one...well done x

Thank you. Not very few & far between for me at the moment: I seem to have more tough runs than enjoyable ones. Keeping on x

You are so right, and the bad run is the exercise needed to build fitness so future runs are good. However it might be worth taking an w tea rest day in case you've over trained. I also found fuelling up helped when I had 2 weeks of bad runs. I hope your next run feels ace!

Yep - and getting through the bad ones is great for mental stamina! So well done you!

Thank you both. I really need to look at my diet. I feel (and am) so heavy but can’t manage to do the regular running AND eating right. I am generally only running twice a week. I need to pass the focus from running into my eating too! I am almost certainly fuelling in the wrong stuff.

With you all the way on this Molly - if I eat the wrong things, I feel awful when I run. In my case it means cutting down on wheat and dairy. But it's that vicious circle - feel tired, grab something rubbish but easy - oops, feel tired! I've been trying really hard for a week now to eat healthily. I'll let you know if it makes a difference! (But a run is a run. Is a run!) Oh, and rice cakes are my new BFF :D
