A Better late than never run !

I was intending to run on Saturday but was not feeling too good .

I had a flu jab the day before so not sure if this was the reason , I did feel as though I was starting with a cold .

So decided to have a restful weekend and run today (Monday) as I don't need to work untill the afternoon and luckily I am feeling better !

I was up around 06:30 and made a cup of tea, as it was still dark I decided to take it back to bed .

So watched the news and had a look around the forums for a while .

Up again around 7:15

Undecided what to wear this morning but settled on a long sleeve running top and slightly heavier shorts .

Dynamics done and out of the door around 07:55

It felt a little cooler than I expected but I soon warmed up as I started running .

This was a 'Naked' run , I decided I didn't want any NRC or Music , just a gentle run to see how I felt .

The first K felt fine but needed to conciously tell myself not to set off too fast !

Slightly downhill on the second split , and definitely warming up now , maybe should have worn the t-shirt !

Quite a few school children walking to school at this time so having to dodge them on the pavements as they don't seem to want to move (I think they are still asleep!)

Around the corner and up the hill towards the church , it felt tough going up here today ! And I felt I was slower.

I didn't help as I watched the school children coming down the hill on their scooters 😁

Uphill done and onto the undulating 3rd K .

It's been a tough run today , I really need to pick up my run frequency!

I decided to finish at 3.5K

Back home , stretches done and a big mug of tea !

Enjoy your runs everyone πŸ˜πŸ‘

I have a similar problem with groups of schoolkids in the mornings and afternoons. They are in their own little bubbles and seem oblivious to anything else going on round them. There are two large high schools (actually one's an "Academy") and a Sixth Form College on my usual two mile loop.

Yes, they are a pain , most of them were too busy playing with mobile phones to realise someone was running up behind them , even when they notice you they still take up the whole pavement in there group and force you to go out into the road towards oncoming traffic

Well done for getting out there especially after that cup of tea in bed 😁. And well done for navigating the scooters and children πŸ‘πŸΌ! I made the mistake once of running later in the day at school kicking out time. Never, ever again is all I have to say to that! I’m guessing Misty was super nonchalant when you got back! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Š

Thanks , I really need to pick my run times better in future ! The school kids are a nightmare !Also need to pick my run frequency and distances up again 😐

Misty didn't even miss me , she was still asleep on the back of the sofa, same place as when I went out 🀣

This picture was her wanting a fuss one evening 😁

Oh she’s beautiful 😊. Why don’t you come along (virtually of course) on a short run early Thursday morning? It will be silly early, about 6am, but I guarantee no school children 😁. Maybe some moths and maybe some bats πŸ¦‡.

Give yourself a break those vaccines knock you even if you don’t realise, I was fine after my second and only realised later when i was looking through my stats that for about a week after my heart was working harder and any running shot it really high, that’s a good pace and you got out

Yes, your right ! My 2nd covid jab knocked me out for about 6 days ! 😐

SueAppleRun profile image

It was the flu jab that knocked me out but both covid jabs raised my heart rate without me realising and i was tireder for at least a week The fact that you went out and ran is enough

Your right , just frustrating though at the moment , I need to pick my frequency up !

What is it about some people not moving at all when they see you? I used to run and walk past a group of schoolchildren and I was the one that always had to move onto the road πŸ™„

Nice sounding run πŸ‘(apart from the school kids ☹️)

It's actually the first time I have run when the school kids were about ! I'll certainly try and avoid it in the future .

They are an absolute nightmare !

The run was ok but I certainly need to be doing more !

They could be quite useful for hurdling training πŸ˜‚

A run is a run! I know what you mean about getting the clothes right - I've been wearing a short sleeved t-shirt for my recent runs and every time I wish I'd gone for a vest top.Looking forward to the clocks changing so the early morning runs might be jn the light - at least for a while.

Yes I soon warm up when running !Ahh yes, it should be better for a while after the clocks change πŸ˜‹

As for the flu jab, I bet it was that which made your run feel tough. I had mine last Thursday and felt awful on Friday. Am also doing a few 3.5k-ish runs and they're always a good 'I've done a run' length!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Roxdog

Yes, I like 3.5kIt's just enough to keep things ticking over 😟

Well done on you run @Instructor57 - hope you feel better after your jab, now. I’ve got mine at work tomorrow.🀞

Well done, Ian! It always feels good to run, so I ask myself why is it that sometimes I don’t run. I’ll let you know when I have a good answer ! 😊
