Thinking of getting off my train commute a station early and running home a few days a week now it's starting to be light enough. Anyone got any recommendations for a running backpack? I need to be able to carry my office clothes / shoes, a laptop (on occasions), other paraphernalia which i ridiculously carry to and from the office every day, plus it needs to be reflective. I'm female, 5'4" and pretty narrow. I'd welcome thoughts / advice!!
Thanks in advance!! Xxx

Not really a backpack recommendation but I’ve been doing this for a few weeks so I thought I’d share in case it works for you. I run from the office to the station on alternate days so I change at the offce so I ca leave all the paraphernalia there (clothes/laptop/office shoes/anything else) then run with my usual rucksack that’s pretty much empty apart from a bottle of water for when I get to the train. Next morning I go to work as normal but with the next set of running kit and I travel up in my running shoes. I just change into office shoes when I arrive. I then take the previous days clothes homein The evening. I’m lucky in that I can pretty much wear what I like at work (no suit or uniform) and I have a locker. I have run with a fuller rucksack but I find it messes with my balance and I end up with a sore knee/hip/back.
Thank you, good tips. I think I have to do my run at the home end because I travel on a "fast" train to London. But it doesn't prevent me from doing the kind of swap you're talking about which is a very good idea. I currently have a "handbag" and I do have a locker but I might need to tidy it... 🤣
Yes - I end up sitting on the train sweaty for 40 minutes but you made me think and I’ve realised if I get off 2 stops early I can run almost exactly 5k home and if I get off 3 stops early it’s 10 k so thanks to you I think I have a new running patter. Cheers !
Yeah, I'm on the train for an hour, so being sweaty and gross for that long would probably sadden my fellow passengers... plus I've only got a 15 minute stroll from station to office at the London end whereas getting off one stop early at home would give me four miles to enjoy plus a timely shower!! 😁😁😁
Ooo, thanks, I'll look at ones designed for cyclists then too. Can I ask why you love your Lidl rucksack so much? What makes it especially good? (Apart from the price which is amaaaaazing!)
Just to chip in (luckily for me, I’m past the commute) - I find quite a bit of my cycle gear is good for running. Designed for lightness & good balance, I think, plus exposure to the great British weather!
It’s neat anD fits closely to my body and doesnt move It has three main compartments which are like slices in the main body of the bag It has a small front pocket and a pocket under that with a net bag to hold my cycle helmet should I need to. Inside the compartments are various cubbies. I run and then go shopping. It’s amazing what I can get into it it was £6.99.
The running one, also from Lidl, has bigger compartments for clothing . I use it for the gym It doesn’t fit as snugly to my body as the cycling one
