So just an update on our latest runs. On Sat morning the wife and I did our local parkrun together again. It was my 11th time and Jackies' 2nd time. She was on wk8.1 so we ran for 28 mins by which time we had covered just over 4k. So I said to her that's 28 mins but she wanted to keep going and she kept going to the end and did it in 34.54. She felt great and was amazed to be able to run for 35 mins.
So today it was wk8.2 and off we go again. She was more sensible this time and stuck to the plan. Ran for 28 mins at a slightly slower pace than Sat covering 3.75k in the time. It's of great benefit to me running at the slower pace with her cos on my own I would definitely be tempted to run too fast. It's great to have a running partner now too.

That sounds great 👍 I’m yet to do a park run as unfortunately I work every Saturday but I’m hoping to squeeze one in on one of my holidays this year. And my OH says the same when he runs with me it really stops him going all out.
Great team work 💪😃 Don’t be tempted into fast running at this stage! Your legs have to get built first. Slow runs and rest days build legs but it takes many months It’s a wonderful time so enjoy yourself and don’t risk injury. It sucks!
How great that Jackie has taken to running too. UpTheStanley appreciates a slower running partner too, although sometimes I feel as though he's itching to go faster. That's a brilliant parkrun time on Saturday - perhaps she's not such a slow partner after all.
Yeah it's great to have company and I keep telling her she's not slow. Both of us are loving it. Never thought we would be taking up running in our late 50s!!
