w4 long run: my first ever 8k!

today I completed the 8k / 5 mile run!! I ran mainly on the road (I live in the city), but also through a park and along the river. I'm not sure of my exact time because halfway through I went through a 1km tunnel where you have to bike, whilst still recording on strava, so it says my pace is 4:20/km which is obviously nowhere near correct! But I guess pace isn't so important anyways, I'm happy just to complete this run :)

Its a bit crazy to me that I'm running 8km, a distance which even a month ago seemed so out of reach. For the past 2 weeks my long runs have been 7 and 7.3 respectively, but somehow 8 seems so much closer to the magic 10k!

Oh yes, you’re getting close now a_in_gsr! Well done on your 8k - it feels great doesn’t it! Don’t forget to have a little celebration as well - call it practice for the mega celebration you’ll have when you get to 10k!!

Congratulations on the 8... as it’s also, as you said, 5 miles I did find that it seemed a really significant milestone, so I understand the mentality of it feeling much closer to 10.
