That didn't go to plan

New Insoles got and nothing was going to stop me from attempting 10k this mor ING without left foot pain. Away I went. All good slow steady pace. Hamstring feeling fine, 39mins in Pain in my toes. Any I continued on and done 8.2k in 48.55 before I had to stop as it was getting too much. Anyone help is there better insoles than a 7mm cushion at the front. I don't have £110 to buy new Brooks trainers. So frustrated. On the up side tho I shaved 5mins off my last 8k back in November.

Well done for the pb!

Insoles take up space in your shoes, and can cause problems such as toes cramming against the ends and tops of your shoes.

Maybe try some thinner insoles - for example I had some of these (years ago now) which seemed to help despite being thin:

Where is the pain?

Pain is from ball of foot till my toes. When I walk the pain stops. I'll try them. Anything is better than paying £110 on different trainers lol

What shoes are they? Did you have the problem before you got them?

Asics. Yes had the problem before insoles. Got gait done and everything was fine.

I asked if you have the problem before the new shoes, not the insoles.

And what model of Asics?

Sorry no idea tbh. I got the shoes when I was doing the C25K. I'll have to come back to you on that one. Not sure

Don't worry! I think I misunderstood - I thought you meant you had gait analysis and then got some new shoes, but now I see that's not the case 😊

I found changing the way I tied my laces gave me a bit of extra room in the toe box. That might help?

Sorry to hear about your pain. If you haven’t done so already, take the shoe insole out and place on top of your new insole. Draw around the old sole and then trim off any surplus.

If that doesn’t work, it sounds like you do need to go for a fitting in a good running shop, not a High St sports shop. It’s worth asking at parkrun or a running club for recommendations . Do tell them your budget as they don’t just sell expensive shoes.

Shoes are the most important items in running though and they are worth investing in.
